Alleviant Health Jonesboro, Trisha Burns, and the entire staff, literally saved my life. I spent most of my life, since early childhood, dealing with depression. Severe depression. I was pretty good at masking it with humor and just faking it. I had tried pretty much every anxiety/depression med on the market with little relief or short lived relief. I tried talk therapy with many different counselors with no real change either. Depression is an illness. It isnt something to be ashamed of but, I was. I always felt like I should be stronger or just get over it. I should be able to overcome it. Which, ironically, made the depression worse. One day, while at an appointment for my son at Alleviant Health Jonesboro I saw an ad/flyer for a non pharmaceutical treatment called TMS therapy. I talked about it with Trisha Burns and researched it on my own. TMS is not painful, it isnt a medicine, there were no side effects for me, and it works. Basically, very basically since Im not a doctor, they place a machine thing on your head and it sends magnetic pulses to awaken the depressed side of your brain. Now, I know it sounds like voodoo, hippie, weird stuff but, it isnt. It is actually science backed and has amazing results. If you google it you can see the actual MRI results of before and after treatment. It takes some commitment because there are a set number of treatments and you have to be at each appointment. However, it is definitely worth it. Once I completed treatments and was weaned off my depression meds, I was and still am shocked by the results. TMS therapy saved my life. I wasnt living before. I was existing and surviving. Depression for me was almost like being numb. I knew I should feel things and couldnt. Now, I feel it all. It was overwhelming at first, feeling truly happy, I almost thought there was something wrong with me, like I was feeling too much. Good mental health is a pretty incredible thing. It has helped me in so many ways. I am finally taking care of myself. I am setting boundaries with people, I have been getting healthier, losing weight and taking better care of my family. It has led me to prioritize myself and my happiness. (Which I have learned makes my family happier too)

At first my experience wasn't the best but they've gotten new providers since my first visit. The new lady is WONDERFUL. She's thorough and truly listens, explains things/how the meds might feel in a realistic way, and understands the way meds can realistically affect our day-to-day life. My husband even sees her now as well.

I'm a mental health therapist and the patients I have referred to Alleviant have all been satisfied. They feel that these psych nurse practitioners are actually taking the time to go over their diagnosis and explain the medications prescribed.
