I write very few reviews and am only moved to do so when I have been impacted in an extremely positive or negative manner. Unfortunately, in this case the latter is true. My husband and I purchased an agent owned home in Holiday Island this past November. For a home that had been originally constructed back in 1995, I must say the interior renovations and upgrades were beautiful. We were instantly in love. Inasmuch, fresh paint, new flooring, cabinets and fixtures only served to cover up a pipe waiting to burst as a result of a shoddy repair made inside the wall between the laundry room and guest bedroom prior to our purchase, which failed to be disclosed. Our home inspector could only catch what was reasonably visible without the disclosure. In order to have made this repair, a hole had to have been cut in the wall in order to access the problem. Then, drywall had to be replaced and then repainted. This constitutes far more than a leaky faucet or rusted pipe. And the repair itself was considered defective according to the master plumber who eventually made it right. I only washed 5 loads of laundry with my brand new washer before the agitation from the spin cycle caused the cheap plastic to give way, eventually flooding the guest room. This lead to the water having to be shut off to the house, which caused us to have to leave our new home on Christmas Eve. To date, we are out just under $1500 and the seller, an agent with Burnett Realty, refuses to make it right. Instead, he offers up questionable details and excuses in order to evade responsibility. It's not over. Cody Burnett may be a fine individual, we never dealt with him directly; however, his name is all over the paperwork as principal broker and therefore, he as well as the seller must be held liable. As far as Burnett Realty is concerned, my advice is to "let the buyer beware". Regarding Mr. Burnett's reply, he is correct. We've never met, and he's never been to my home, but we do have some pretty strong evidence that we are in the right here, and justice will prevail. Feel free to share.
