I was looking for frames for my daughter with Down syndrome. I spoke with Alisa who seemed very rushed and bothered that their location still was listed as a location that carried these frames. Her lack of knowledge when referring to the "special needs community" was disheartening and hopefully they will really look at patients for who they are.

Other than the friendly staff, I am not impressed by the results of my daughter's treatment. Granted, we had to move about 9 months into the treatment, but I saw absolutely no improvement in her lazy eye during that time period. I would expect SOME improvement in her condition in that time period. Even family members agree that her eye is the same now as it was before the treatment. What was I paying for? Almost a thousand dollars wasted and wear and tear on my car to drive there from 1.5 hours away. When I made my first call to the business, the lady on the phone said they had seen success in patients all the way from (I think it was New Hampshire), so I thought certainly I can get some success from 1.5 hours away. At my daughter's final appointment, the doctor said something along the lines of, "Hopefully you can find a vision therapist at your new location so you can start doing vision therapy." I thought, "Weren't we already doing vision therapy? All the exercises that we did so loyally and the colored glasses she wore all day...was that not vision therapy?" I was very surprised. This needs to be explained to patients better. Granted, maybe this treatment does not work for everyone, but I still cringe when I think of how much money I spent and how I got nothing in return. I can't afford that in today's economy. Now I have to spend time to find a doctor and have the actual surgery performed because I would be dumb to pay more money for this with another vision therapist.

Great & Friendly staff. Dr. Hailey really helped me out & answered all my questions about this & that. The exam you initially take is a real eye opener. Its teaches you about how your eye site gets truly corrected. Educational exam. All should know about this. Its a life changer for me these last 2 ,3yrs. Forget those other vision centers & quit wasting your $ & most important ruining your vision for years to come. All The Best AVTC

Amazing and completely life changing for my son. He has glasses, did sensory learning and starts vision therapy soon. He is way more confident and focused. No more meltdowns either. We are very happy.

Thank you for the opportunity to clear up any confusion.Due to HIPAA restrictions, we cannot give details about this review. However, we want you to know that we take extreme pride in our integrity and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible carethat circumstances will allow. Everyone who does an initial evaluation at our office receives a report that explains the observations ofthe doctor and the recommendations for best possible outcomes. Typically, when there is an obvious eye turn, we recommend a program of 40-48 sessions of weekly active vision therapy to help teach thebrain the 18 different visual skills that are needed to ensure that the brain and eyes work well together as a team. Our doctors are trained extensively in educating both patients and family members aboutthe difference between quick fixes and true fixes when it comes to vision. When the true fix is not chosen by the family, we try to use alternative methods to stabilize the vision and treat symptoms. These other methods include therapeutic lenses, syntonic phototherapy, developmental reflex integration, and referrals to other practitioners when necessary. As Developmental NeuroCognitive Optometrists, it is our goal to help our patients live healthier and less stressful lives by improving their brain function through vision. The visual system can be compared to driving a car. The purpose of regular lenses is to make sure the windshield is clear. The therapeutic lenses and syntonic phototherapy help to decrease stresses fromeveryday obstacles that create difficulty in being aware of where you are headed. Reflex integration helps improve control of the steering wheel and instruments. The manual therapy helps alignment ofthe car. Strabismus surgery helps balance the wheels. None of these fully help the operation of the vehicle if the driver does not know how to drive.Active Vision Therapy is necessary to teach the driver how to actually drive, how to predict problems that can occur, and how to react to those problems. It also makes the visual system as automatic aspossible so the driver can better enjoy the ride. If you would like a recommendation for a therapy center in your area, please feel free to give us a call at 520.886.8800 and we will try to locate one for you.
