In the area for work and decided to try Bouldering Project. My first gripe is having to create an account with the gym to sign a waiver. My second is that they stored my credit card information when I payed for my day pass. I couldnt find where it stated that they would require a credit card on file. I only found out when I went to purchase a bottle of water and asked if they want to charge the card on file. Not really happy with that. The gym itself is nice, there are many areas to workout after or warm up before climbing. Some of the pads were being replaced and the locker room area was under construction, not a big deal for a day trip. Setting wasnt bad, the color wheel of grades was fine. Some of routes put in a vulnerable spot to fall. Volumes near the bottom, have the potential to sprain ankles or worse. The staff was nice and walked me through the gym for orientation. Probably wont be back, maybe if I lived in AZ and they changed a few things.

UPDATE: BP seems to have listened to the community and went back to their previous guest policy, as well as totally replacing their foam padding. Ive since been back and will probably switch to a membership here after all. Thank you for making this place better! Hopefully theyll stick to the new policies. Original: first of all, I really do like climbing here. the routes are super varied and I love the use of volumes, plus I dont feel super limited by being short. I was really considering getting a membership here until I read more into how the guest pass policies have changed. this gym is quite expensive and to not have a solid guest pass system like other (cheaper) gyms is not worth it to me. also, the padding is a little too soft/squishy and seems like it could lead to ankle injuries, so thats a little unnerving.

Staff is great, community is amazing and they do a great job keeping routes fresh by rotating in new routes. Love that they listened to their community regarding guest passes.

Updated review (4.5 stars): BP is putting in a lot of effort to make the gym even better. The staff is always super nice and helpful. While yes, it is pricey, the amount that they pack into this gym is starting to make the price make sense. Plus, they offer holiday discounts. Get your membership during the discounts so you don't have to pay full price if you can! This gym cares about its climbers, and wants the best experience for us. They will treat you well here, and you do have access to an amazing amount of things. All the events that BP hosts are awesome as well. Lastly, I'm glad BP listened to the climbers about the guest pass policy and reversed the decision to limit guest passes. Significant improvement from my original review! Original below (1 star): I love it here. I really do. You get s full free weight gym, fitness classes and yoga, and an amazing climbing gym. The price I paid for a full year was $850. Admittedly on the pricier side of things, but not awful. Today after taking a couple friends to the gym I found out they raised their price to $1045 for a full year. I will be cancelling my membership when it comes due this year if the price is still the same. Additionally, the awful guest pass policy that BP tried to enact, it seems like the owners aren't concerned with the climbers so much as they are lining their own pockets. I sincerely hope they consider lowering the year membership down to $850 again AND stop with removing perks/promising us things and then not delivering (cold plunge availability, hot water for showers, guest passes, pricing, etc.) I know I am not the only climber upset by this. Unfortunately a number of my friends will not be signing up due to the price of the membership, I was so excited to climb with them too.
