Dr. Bailie recommended that I have a hemiarthroplasty on my left shoulder. This shoulder has had three previous surgeries as a result of massive injuries due to competing on the still rings in college more than 45 years ago. The surgery went great! Dr. Bailie's knowledge and skill, along with Todd Ellenberger's (DPT), helped me regain full use of this shoulder which prior to the surgery was essentially useless. I have no restrictions and I routinely participate in sailing, bowling, swimming, etc. I have been living in San Diego since just a few months after my surgery but I return annually for Dr. Bailie to x-ray and check how I'm doing. Now more than 8 years post-op and the shoulder is doing great! Dr. Bailie has my highest recommendation!

Dr. Bailie performed a reverse shoulder replacement on me on the 12th of October 2020. At age 78, i was very apprehensive about having this surgery even though i was losing effective use of my right arm. Dr. Bailie reassured me that he was confident the procedure would result in the elimination of my pain and hopefully restore some of the mobility I had lost over time. Thankfully, based on his confidence and candid thoughts about the outcome , i went forward. Almost from the time i was released , i was super happy with the outcome; no pain and early signs of regained mobility. Now eight weeks post surgery, i feel like I am actually better than i have been in the last five years. Dr Bailie is a meticulous surgeon; a demanding operating room manager; very smart and informed on everything related to his profession; and dedicated to as perfect an outcome for his patients as possible. I fully recommend him to any one requiring shoulder repair. He is the best. I am willing to talk with potential patients of Dr. Bailie if they have similar hesitations as i did,

My wife’s sister, a medical professional at the Piper Surgery Center where I had my shoulder replacement surgery, recommended Dr. Bailie to me. Dr. Bailie is an accomplished surgeon who has performed shoulder replacement surgery many times over a number of years. Even though he is an experienced surgeon, Dr. Bailie does not treat the surgery as “routine.†He takes the utmost care and is a perfectionist. The result I got was tremendous, and I couldn’t be happier. Importantly, Dr. Bailie insists that the patient use physical therapist Todd Ellenbecker, with whom he has developed the protocol for shoulder rehab. Todd and his team have been terrific. You must work hard during rehab, but Todd makes the painful experience of physical therapy as “enjoyable†as possible. I am now halfway through my 12-week physical therapy and I am pain free, which is a testament to both Dr. Bailie and Todd.

In February 2011, after researching extensively, I flew from California to Scottsdale, AZ, to have Dr. Bailie operate on my R shoulder. Being an anesthesiologist I have lived my life inside an operating room and carefully selected Dr. Bailie because of his superb operating skills combined with his genuine caring for his patients. We discussed my options and focused on my active life-style of surfing, weight lifting, traveling and what operation would be best for me. It has been 9 1/2 years since my Copeland procedure. In October 2017, I returned to Dr. Bailie to repair a torn rotator cuff on the same shoulder. Once again, he and his team were excellent and caring and I was again back to normal activities within 3 months. Now at 69 years of age I am retired but still surfing, weight lifting and have added yoga and wing-foiling to my activities. I have yearly radiographic studies of my shoulder yearly and have been stable. When other surgeons gave me no choice as to options going forward with my shoulder, Dr. Bailie with his extensive experience and background guided me to the correct surgery. I recommend him without reservation.
