Gecko Climbing Gym

Overall this was a good experience! The routesetting was great! The gym was on the smaller/slightly limited side, which made the day pass seem a little overpriced. Still worth a visit though :)

I feel bad saying this because it's family owned, but this is one of the most disappointing gyms I've ever been to. The bouldering area is tiny and the setting is SO bad. Zero flow. Some problems just sort of end in the middle of the wall? Like I literally could not find a next hold. Also, they try to use a v scale system that makes no sense because the colored geckos don't correspond to the colors of the holds and are also incredibly hard to see. Inexplicably, 2/3 of the problems had no grading at all and the teen manning the front desk just sort of waved her hand around and said "that one's probably an easy one."Paying $25 for a day pass is absurd. I've paid less in the Bay Area for a gym four times the size with six times the number of bouldering problems. I get the sense this place is more of a family fun center on weekends than any sort of serious climbing gym. And judging by the near-emptiness on a weeknight, it appears others agree with me. I've never seen a gym that empty at 7 pm during the week. I'd be surprised if this place makes it two more years. Two stars because it was clean and had easy parking.
