I recently suffered a shoulder injury that resulted in nearly a complete loss of dexterity and strength in my left arm. The injury left me in pain and unable to do basic tasks at home and at work. As a result I was prescribed physical therapy and so, much like you reading this right now, I started looking for a provider to help me. Reading the previous reviews here I felt I was likely making a good selection, however I can now say it was an excellent decision.
From day one the team at FPT showed me exactly how they ran their practiceefficiently, transparently, data driven and most notably compassionately. They are quick and efficient where you want them to be (bookings, logistics, billing, insurance handling, etc) while at the same time they are thorough and detailed where you need them to be. My first appointment was for 8:30AM, so I arrived 15 minutes early, as requested, to get signed in and provide insurance and health info. I was amazed to be discussing the details of my injury with my physical therapist no later than 8:35. Not only did I take a longer time explaining the history and nuance of my injury, than it took them to get me on-boarded, the physical therapist was not only listening but engaged and asking clarifying, probing questions to help get to the root of the issue and decide on a course of treatment. The empathy and engagement gave me immediate confidence that this wasnt a volume based practicethese folks are vested in your recovery and want to see that happen.
Over the time Ive been seeing the team at FPT there have been a few times my original physical therapist was not in the office the day of my appointment. The staff informed me ahead of time and asked if that would be ok (nice) or would I prefer to rescheduleThe first time I hesitantly accepted the alternateand Im glad I did. During the 10-11 weeks of my treatment there were 3 times I saw alternate physical therapists and each time they were all equally as engaged, knowledgeable and infested as my original. Additionally, I expected to have to re-review my injury, the progress made, the slight customization to exercises we made to custom fit the treatment to my needsboy was I wrong. Their progress tracking and inter-office communication is fantastic. This is really what did it for me; the moment I realized the treatment I experienced wasnt uniqueit was their normal approach to patient care.
Look, if youre reading this youre likely frustrated, maybe in pain and you might have a tough, long road to recovery ahead of you. Physical therapy isnt fun and no one particularly wants to spend their time doing PT exercises, however if you want to find a group of extremely knowledgeable, respectful, and compassionate human beings to help you throughthese folks are who you should choose in this area.
While I hope I never get hurt to this degree again, I can tell you Ill never have to search for another physical therapy practice again.
Good luck with your recovery!
