image We had a late night reservation - reservations open up on resy the first of the month. Since we were unaware of this we decided to be notified of an opening and took whatever time we could.
It's a small place- but the ambience is amazing. Definitely modern Mexican, even had hip hop music playing. Young servers/bartenders.
The food is authentic and combines classic dishes with new flavors. That work amazing together. For example the beans are delicious, the quesadillas are beyond normal.
If you order the Ribeye / Tomahawk (what they are known for) just know it can feed 4 people. Its a lot of food for just 2. They also make it medium rare. So if you aren't a fan of that make sure to let them know. It's priced at market price (Which at the time was ~ 180)
. The wait was 30-40 minutes. Appetizers come out quick and drinks as well.
Server was on point. She new her stuff. Suggested dishes and drinks. Was friendly and kind, and kept coming around to check on us. Didn't slack on bit.

image (Translated by Google) One of the best cuts of meat I've ever tasted, this meal was truly an exquisite experience, some of the flavors reminded me of my grandmother's seasoning

image The hostess is rude as hell. From the moment you get there its almost like its her job to make you feel unwelcomed. Nothing but hipsters. Overpriced.

image "Simply the Best" by Tina Turner is what plays in my head when I dine at Bacanora. The house playlist soon takes over my auditory system and like magic- the sounds complement each dish bringing out different flavors with different notes (you eat with all of your senses!)
Every bite is consistent and melodic- every dish- every time. I've had the privilege of enjoying Bacanora many times and tasted the variations of the rotating menu so I won't highlight every dish.... While the ribeye is a star stunner- the caramelo is its equally attractive (and wallet friendly) sister. But if you can afford it- go for it. The frijoles are better than your grandma's and you can tell her I said that. The charred cabbage is on my deathbed menu. The drink program is incredible- order a Bacanorita to start and a mezcal shot at the end of dinner, your welcome. The staff is 10/10- as hot as the food, as fun as the vibe and knowledgeable AF- trust them when asking for recommendations.
When you dine at Bacanora you are the luckiest table in town.
