Just moved to phoenix area, set up this clinic as I was not sure were I would be living, first visit went great, after that double booked 7 appointments made me move them all over 45 days out, chronic pain could not get me in for 60 days asked for community care 3 week ago and have not received response. Worst clinic by far. Portland clinic OK Denver VA good /great - 32nd st Phoenix Bad - I would not call anything the do timely medical services.

I have given this place several chances especially since the location is new. I had an appointment yesterday for a yearly visit and woman wellness exam. I was never informed that it would be with a male provider. I ended up having to see Dr, Sheleg who was the absolute worst! He was rude, dismissive, and addressed ZERO of my three main concerns. I needed this appointment to do my pap smear, ask to schedule a mammogram since due to my family history, I am very high risk for breast cancer, and wanted to get set up for getting my tonsils and adenoids removed due to being sick very frequently. I got there at 3:30pm for a 4pm appointment and I was the only patient there. I wasnt even seen until 4:20pm. I went to Dr.Shelegs office and he didnt even look at me and did no physical exam at all. I told him I need a mammogram since I am 32, my mother was diagnosed at 42, and my grandmother at 52 and so on. He gave me a disgusted look and told me that I was being ridiculous and they dont do mammograms until 40. I told him my brother had testicular cancer at 25 and I am really wanting a mammogram due to every female on my mothers side having breast or cervical cancer. He then proceeded to go on GOOGLE to try and see when someone should get a mammogram. I was so angry that he wouldnt respect my wishes and understand that mammograms actually start 10 years before the other family member was diagnosed. He googled and rolled his eyes at me and told me he wont put in the mammogram for me. I then asked about my pap smear since I was positive for HPV last October. He told me I didnt need one and I basically didnt have it and it isnt a high risk one so it doesnt matter. I told him Id rather get one just to be safe since cervical cancer runs in my family and I did have HPV last time. He told me he wasnt going to do it. I then let him know I want my tonsils and adenoids removed due to frequent Covid, colds, and flu and he tried telling me why it was stupid to do it, the recovery is horrible and painful and my tonsils look small so I dont need it. When I realized this appointment wasnt going anywhere, I couldnt wait to leave. He didnt even check my extremities, ears, nose, throat, reflexes, nothing! He didnt look at me when talking, scoffed when Id tell him my needs and just typed on his computer the whole time. He didnt ask about my MH or ask anything else other than telling me why my concerns were stupid and he wouldnt be putting any consults in for me. This is the THIRD provider I have seen through the VA. I changed PCP from Dr.Bannerjee because she was the exact same way. I told her I was experiencing MH issues and she told me it was postpartum and Id be fine. It actually was NOT postpartum. I told her I was wanting to get back on stimulants for my hypersomnia and she told me I was only tired because I had a young child, even though I had done a sleep study in the military and it was diagnosed as hypersomnia. I changed to Dr.Patel and she rushed me through my appointment last year because she didnt have time. She didnt address all my concerns and anytime Id message her on the VA app, and she was no help. Anytime I went to the ER, I got rushed out with not even any medications to help me. Theyd tell me to go buy them myself. After my appointment with Dr.Sheleg I am giving up on the VA. Its unfortunate that now Ill have to pay for copays and medications through my work insurance but this is just ridiculous to be treated like this time and time again. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Phoenix VA in its entirety and go through private insurance if possible because they dont know what theyre doing.
