I offer the following comments that have shaped my perceptions of the Madison Highland Prep landscape. I worked as a mathematics teacher for 6 years, and during that time I found that the administrative team supported students and their families with grace and dignity. Nobody can be 100% happy, but this team of diligent people deserve careful consideration. For 6 years I worked with the families who came looking for a place that would challenge their children. Someplace more than just an basic high school, but one that actually pushed their child way beyond their comfort zones. A place where activities outside of the academic world offered choices for students to find their social "wheelhouse." I got caught in that kind of wheelhouse when students insisted on a chess club and so was born a club and team. Students at MHP have great latitude to self-actualize. You want to engineer something, you can. You want to do a deep-dive into a complex literary text - no problem. You want to start a new club - great - find a faculty sponsor and away you go!! I left MHP as a faculty member because of an amazing opportunity that availed itself for my family. Otherwise I would have continued my employment (I hope). All else aside, inquire about the number of fights, the dropout rate, the number of teen pregnancies, or the use of drugs on campus. You will likely appreciate the frank direct responses you get to these questions as well as questions about the academic value the curriculum provides. I have found that MHP is a college prep school in reality. This is not college prep in name alone, but in reality. Students can realize college credit before high school graduation. I will cherish my partners in education at MHP, and the learning environment that was created for students. Am I biased? Yes, I likely am a biased contributor, but I offer these comments as a pathway to questions you may ask when you visit the school to see for yourself if this is the right place for your child(ren). This place is a total train wreck to say at the very least.. Its such a shady operation ran by shady administration. That little Mr Kerry or Mr Clark guy acts nice when us parents are around, but that couldnt be further than the truth. My child, as well as their fellow students have reported to me some of the comments and behavior of him and his administration. Mr Mack, however, has helped my child a lot in preparing for college. The teachers are okay but they cant seem to fill in enough positions. When i enrolled my daughter to a college prep school, i had such high expectations, however, it was actually the worst possible place for her. The administration is a joke. Mr Kerry is a very rude insecure man that takes his insecurities out on the students. His little sidekick Ms Rodriguez is almost just as bad as him.The guy in the office, Dustin George, was incredibly rude and condescending. He makes it feel like youre wasting his time.. Parents, be warned. The administration is horrible and the whole operation is so shady. I apologize to my daughter for enrolling her there. She has been very depressed and stressed here

Madison Highland Prep is a great school and offers a variety of opportunities for students who want to achieve success. Staff are nice and helpful when it comes to questions or concerns one may have about their child's behavior, grades, etc. However, one thing I did find just a tad bit unprofessional was the front desk staff member that answered my call. Again, During my entire call, she was helpful and nice, but at the end of my call, she said "oh my god" right before hanging up the phone. I guess she was impatient because I was asking questions related to my son's grades, online portals not reflecting correct grade information and etc. Despite the comment made on the other end of my conversation with Madison's Front Desk, I am still satisfied with the quality of education provided.
