Armenta's Upholstery

If I could give a rating more than 5 for this review, I would. I brought a pair of bucket seats to Armenta's to be recovered with a kit I supplied. I also had a transmission cover that had been modified so that the existing carpet set for it no longer fit and required modification. Mr. Armenta quoted me a good price and said that the work would be done in three weeks, which was much sooner than the time schedules given me by other upholstery shops, some of which would not even get to my work for two months or more. The seats were done withing the stated three weeks, but Mr. Armenta was not satisfied with possible modifications to the existing carpeting for the transmission cover. (The carpeting needed to be extended, and he was not happy with any of the carpeting matches available.) The work for the transmission cover carpeting therefore required additional work, but Mr. Armenta fabricated a whole new carpet for the transmission cover within a week. It looks fantastic, much better than the original carpet that I supplied. I could not be more pleased with the result. It was all done within the original cost estimate. I very highly recommend Mr. Armenta and his shop!

I never had problems with the quality of work here until today, when I discovered that my truck seat cushion which I had paid to have reupholstered with genuine leather had actually been reupholstered by Armenta’s in simulated leather (vinyl). I guess he thought I would not figure it out? Well, the vinyl is cracking where the work was done and it’s pretty clear now what material he really used. It’s funny, because we had a lengthy conversation in his shop about the material I wanted and he gave me the option for leather and vinyl and I said, “no, I’m willing to pay more for the Lexus leather.” My receipt even says “leather”. The job then supposedly took much longer, because he had to do it as a special order. Either he didn’t actually order the leather, then just rushed and used in-stock vinyl when he realized how long I had been waiting, or he never intend to order the leather I paid for and just pocketed the difference. Not a smart way of doing business either way - and it’s catching up to them. It’s also personally disappointing/disheartening to feel cheated. I had hoped that this would be an upholsterer I could depend on and trust. I’m giving two stars instead of one, because of other upholstery work which they have done which was acceptable work, but also slow delivery. Folks- just learn to manage the expectations of your customers. If it realistically takes three weeks, then say that, not something else. Then, use the material your customers pay for- not a cheap substitute that you think will pass for the real deal.

DO NOT GO HERE unless you want your furniture stolen. My mom took our great grandma’s chair here to be reupholstered nearly 3 years ago. She paid a deposit and was promised the chair would be done in a certain time frame. She called after the time was up and it wasn’t finished. She called again multiple times and stopped by over the next few months and every time was told that it was almost don’t and they would call as soon as it was finished. Well here we are YEARS LATER and they kept her deposit and our chair that has family meaning.

Very unprofessional, They like to get confrontational with Customers have it all on video will be going to the Better Business Bureau and the news. We will be getting the police department involved they have had my brothers boat since February and it is not on their property, from what they are telling us that it is at their warehouse hmmmmm sounds fishy too me.
