Shake Shack San Tan Village

I was given the wrong item in a pick up order. Irritating, but it happens and its our fault for not checking them items before leaving the restaurant. So I have to drive the 3.5 miles back and exchange an incorrect sandwich for the one we ordered, no big deal. Except that it took 15 minutes to make the correct sandwich. They took the orders of two customers during this 15 minutes, so they werent particularly busy. Neither the employees or the manager who came to check in after noticing I had been standing by the pick up counter for over ten minutes offered an apology for the initial mistake or the long wait.

First time customer.... I ordered for curbside pickup using the app. It seemed a little busy when I arrived the app said they would be bringing out my food shortly. After 15 min I clicked "Still waiting?" button in the app. It said to go inside and they will rush to complete your order. It was sitting on the counter. Employee said "Oh, our curbside tablet doesn't work. But your order just came out.". When I got home 4 min later, my food was cold. Looked at the receipt on the bag and it had already been sitting on the counter for 18 min when he handed it to me. The food might be good when it's hot. Not so good cold. Nothing in the app about curbside not being available, no sign outside saying come inside for curbside pickup.

This was my first time trying Shake Shack, which I had heard has better burgers than In-n-Out. My burger was good, with some nice crispy bits around the edge of the patty, but unfortunately the patty was pretty thin for my taste. Well seasoned burger with a nice bun, and I did really enjoy the crispy, crispy fries. My favorite part of this experience was actually the novelty of sitting in a fast food restaurant with a chandelier! What?! Why did no one mention this to me? I kind of loved the whole vibe they were going for inside, an industrial look warmed up with some wood and fancy lighting. I think it elevated the experience, as cliche as that sounds. I would go back but I might skip the burger to try something else next. Some of their seasonal options looked interesting.

Chicken bites had a little too much salt in the batter but was very tender. The shake sauce was hard to enjoy with the salty chicken. The avocado in the burger was little under ripe but the rest of the burger was decent. The bun was soft and meat juicy. The summer time lemonade was pretty tart but Im sure would be better as a 50/50 (basically and Arnold Palmer). Menu options and ordering system are relatively simple to use. The service was polite and tentative. Open seating was nice.
