I want to preface this to say that I never had my hair braided by her, so I cant attest to her work from personal experience. But I had a negative experience with booking. We made arrangements for box braids, color, and time and date of appointment. I drove two hours to get there, and took the day off work. When I arrived she didnt even remember she made an appointment with me as indicated by calling me a completely different name. I had to show her the text thread for her to remember and then she said that my hair wasnt here yet and that she wasnt sure when it would arrive. I had a feeling that it wasnt even ever ordered because after taking down my number to let me know when my hair would arrive she told me she would let me know when to come back. So I left without any future appointments or much of an apology. From her reviews Im sure she does good work but theres something to be said for reliability in running a business.

I freaking love my braids!! I have short hair about an inch or inch and a half long curly hair, she was able to braid my hair in box braids. She did exactly the size I wanted a medium size braids. Tight but not to the point to where it feels like my head will explode, I expected them to be tight so Im not surprised by it in any way. I will definitely be coming back to her. The tightness lasts for like 2 days or so and they are great. The price is not too bad, she didnt add on pricing like some people just keep jacking up the pricing while braiding your hair. Great conversations and watching tv having a great time. She got it done pretty fast.

Overall great experience! Appointment was not rushed, Annmarie takes her time explaining the hair process, great environment, great music, and felt like I was at home.

With limited options in Flagstaff, I decided to try AnnMarie. To be fair, she does good work and Ive always been pleased with my braids. Although, I should note that she braids quite painfully. I fully recognize that Im extremely sensitive but I couldnt believe how painful it was to have her braid me. I asked on more than one occasion for her to be more gentle and she didnt respect my wishes; she didnt even try. That aside, I was always pleased with the end result and figured this was just the way it had to be. However, Ive decided to not to return and instead travel to Phoenix for my hair care as options from now on. My appointments had been rescheduled on more than one occasion. The straw that broke the camels back was recently, after cancelling my appointment hours before it was scheduled (after already having rescheduled it once so that she could enjoy a long weekend with family, which seemed fair enough despite the inconvenience and unprofessionalism). She cited health reasons for the cancellation, which is also fair, but after having gone through this before, I felt unsettled, especially as she didnt offer an alternative date or option. This along with poor bedside manner (lots of negative chit chat about various topics that was somewhat stressful in an already highly stressful situation, comments about my extra thick hair) and not offering to let me select something to watch or offering to turn the TV off entirely when I arrive with a book in hand, forcing me to watch whatever she wanted to, was also disappointing, albeit not deal breakers (although, one might argue that they should be). I should mention that since finding a new salon in Phoenix, I was shocked and delighted to find a stylist who braids gently without compromising the integrity of the braids. I couldnt believe how pleasant the experience was. I didnt even have to take my preemptive Advil. I realize now that some stylists either dont k ow how to braid gently or simply dont care to, which is a shame.
