Pretty area, picked over big time, but plenty of shards can be found and if you are serious and will walk a ways and make an effort in the right place you can still find some decent samples if Fire Stone Agates.

Great place to Rockhound for fire agates. Easy to follow directions but dont recommend it unless you have a high clearance truck/car. Long 6 miles f narrow crater filled dirt road.

This place is littered with fire agate and other precious stones. Traveling this road requires good judgment and an AWD or 4x4 vehicle. I have witnessed many front wheel drive cars make it. It's not something I would recommend because of how remote this area is and the condition of the road can and will unknowingly change. When you reach railroad tracks, it is important to stop and listen for a train, the sign may not be there. We all do our part to keep land public and open for all to enjoy through a few simple practices such as Leave No Trace principles, proper etiquette, leaving behind only your footprint, respecting all posted signs, cows, and wildlife!
