Run, do not go here. I grew up here and let me tell you the amount of control and power they have over their members is honestly insane. To say that this place is a cult masquerading as a church seems too kind. I would better describe this place as a devouring monstrosity drunk on power and sadism. I am not exaggerating when I say if you value your children and dont think of them as canon fodder take them and run oh and to my so called family and friends of this church who likened the bond we had to iron What will your excuse be on judgement day when our Lord asks you about your sins

I have been a member at the Avondale Church of God for almost 6 years. I was raised a Baptist but had a falling out with faith when I became an adult. At the time, the congregation had a young mens Bible study that was able to help me find the answers to the questions I was asking. When I was saved, God delivered me from addiction and helped me clean up my life.Since getting saved, I have been able to be very active in the congregation with working during annual events or singing in choir or teaching during our annual vacation Bible school.I highly recommend this church to anyone looking for a stable family community based on biblical teachings.

I grew up here from birth until 16 years of age. So I have knowledge on what happens here. This cult has a bad vibe. I would love to do no stars but that isnt an option unfortunately. There are many other choices that would be more welcoming, accepting and less judgmental. If you are looking to become a better person I would not recommend visiting this location. I was judged for small things like length of hair, style of hair, style of clothes, what I wore to services, not sharing their beliefs and even music choice. I was typically not allowed to interact with individuals outside of the cult. Part of their beliefs include not dating until adulthood and not educating children on the basics of adulthood. They dont usually marry anyone outside of the church. They only allow certain hairstyles. Typically short hair for men, without big beards and long hair for women. They also dont wear anything but shirts and pants for the men and shirts, skirts or dresses for women. This includes during the hot Arizona summer! They all share a irrational delusion of believing that anyone who doesnt share their beliefs is incorrect and of the devil. The members here dont believe in modern medicine, vaccines or regular health screenings. This means the children and adults that may have underlying health conditions, quite possibly end up worse off. Looking back I realized this is actually quite dangerous if you ever came in contact with some nasty diseases that have all but been eliminated. I could go on and on but Ill stop there! Please try somewhere else, this is not a good place!
