My 2001 Silverado transmission went out when I was near Gold Canyon AZ. I searched local area shops and Trail transmission was one of the closest ones and they had excellent reviews, so I had my truck towed there. They had the transmission rebuilt within 3 days. They tried to upsell me on motor mounts since they were damaged. I said no, they ended up replacing the mounts and changing me anyway. I could have contested this but I didn't. I paid over the phone. The motor mounts ended up costing about $350 extra. When I picked up the truck I noticed my low coolant light was on. I figured it was possible they accidentally did something since the radiator has both coolant and transmission fluid. This radiator was actually only 2 months old and luckily under warranty. So I ended up replacing that on my own time and just chalked it up as the cost of business. About 3 weeks after the rebuild, my truck was leaking a significant amount of transmission fluid. Knowing the truck was under warranty I called Trail transmission and had them fix the issue. They had the issue fixed by the next day. But the downside is I live 35 minutes away. So this caused me to have to drive over two hours in trips to have this fixed. Its been about 39k miles since the rebuild. I've noticed some things I'm not crazy about such as the 1-2 shift. But it's out of warranty now so I'm stuck with it. The other day I decided to do a fluid and filter exchange. Trail is the only shop who has worked on this truck and I was discouraged to find the drain plug for the transmission pan was stripped and torqued way too tight. Not a big deal, but I had to order a new plug and use my rounded bolt remover. After the plug arrived I went to drain the fluid. I noticed the T40 torx bolt which holds the shift cable on was also over torqued. I've owned this truck since 2006 and I've had none of these issues prior to Trail touching the vehicle. So to get the pan off properly I had to remove the exhaust and that was much more work than I had anticipated. I called Trail about this but since warranty is up what's the point.

My experience with this transmission shop is not good. They want to charge me $750 to change my transmission fluid and filter in a Dodge Ram truck. So I do not recommend this transmission shop to anyone if you still want to have money in your bank. Because they've got their hands in every one's pocket. Like everybody else trying to get rich off.One or two customers good luck if you do deal with them The owner would. N't have you think that the park costs $400. The very next day I found a shop to do the whole job for me for $400. Installation oil, everything included so your prices are ridiculous. Don't lie to the people be up. front and honest about your business. And you don't give veterans discounts which is absurd after what we did. So you could have a thriving business here in the United States and still speak english. So I'm gonna bad mouth. You much as I can to as many people as I can mainly for that reason.Alobviously you do not appreciate what veterans done for you and your family !!!!!!!!! I will do everything in my power to make sure people that I know and know me. Believe me when I tell you this is a bad trail transmission shop.

Business Response on Google Mar 29th, 2024
Dear Art,We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us, and we apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. At Trail Transmission, we strive to provide transparent pricing and exceptional service to all our customers. In response to your concerns, we want to clarify that the transmission fluid and filter replacement for your Dodge Ram truck involves specialized parts and materials. Specifically, the transmission filter for your vehicle is built into the oil pan and must be ordered directly from the dealer. This part alone costs just shy of $400, reflecting its high-quality and compatibility with your vehicle. We do not mark this part up. The cost is what your vehicle dealer charges and is unfortunately out of our control.Additionally, your Dodge Ram truck requires Mopar 89 transmission fluid, which is priced at $17.00 per quart. With your vehicle needing 8 or 9 quarts of this specific fluid, the total cost for the necessary fluid adds up significantly. We understand that cost is an important factor for our customers, and we always strive to provide fair and competitive pricing for our services. Rest assured, our pricing is reflective of the quality parts and materials we use, as well as the expertise and attention to detail our technicians provide during each repair. We regret any misunderstanding regarding our pricing, and we assure you that we are committed to providing value and integrity in every interaction. We appreciate your consideration and hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.Thank you for choosing Trail Transmission.Sincerely, Dean MainvilleOwner, Trail Transmission
