Buyer BEWARE! When your airplane is down and the mechanic needs replacement parts because the original is defective, buying from Aircraft Spruce, you get to pay twice. Bought Garmin USB for Cub. Defective out of the Box. Before buying anything from Aircraft Spruce, make sure you understand the return or exchange policy. They do not share this with you at the time of sale nor is it on the sales receipt. For this particular item, you are refunded once the product supplier, Garmin, authorizes the replacement. Wasilla store required that I buy a second one while they processed return with Garmin. After a week, I followed up. Spoke with Aircraft Spruce in CA, was told that I should not have purchased a second USB. Also, CA agent indicated they were waiting to hear from Garmin to confirm defective. Store should have exchanged. When I went to the store to follow-up, the store manager, told me that CA agent was wrong. The store manager confirmed that the store has not shipped back to Garmin and did not have an Return Authorization. Then, the store manager inferred that I did not return all the parts, except I have signed paper work from counter agent after he opened and inspected the return confirming all parts were in the box. Then, the store manager shared that they have been trying to call me, but not record on my smart phone or voice mail. Finally, I was told that the store has no way to refund my purchase to credit card. The refund had to come from corporate. Aircraft Spruce pointed the finger at Garmin saying it was difficult to get an RA number and replacement product. If you want to buy Garmin local, use one of the reputable suppliers like Northern Avionics, Merrill Field Instruments, and Stoddards. Your other option is to buy Garmin direct online. In the last five years, we have purchased two AERO660s, two GTR225 Radios, InReach, and mini InReach. Never had any issues with support replacement with Garmin direct. I have contacted Garmin to share my experience with this OTC vendor.
