Recently went on a guided sockeye trip on the 22nd of July. Was very surprised that I did not meet our Captain/Guide until the trip was halfway completed. Definitely not what I expected

Had a great experience with Mark. Hit the kenai for trout and dollys. Caught a good amount of fish with a beautiful 26" rainbow to top it off. Booked flyout trip through him as well which was an experience we'll soon not forget. Highly recommend!

Great day fishing and viewing bears and bald eagles at Big River Lakes. Our guide Ian was excellent. He worked hard all day and found us some larger sockeye. Also, on the way home we were able to fly above a glacier with some nice views. Mark and Cindy were great communicating as well. This fly out trip is a great way to spend a day getting away from crowds and combining some fishing with an overall cool experience including the float plane and the wildlife. We used Tanners to ship our fish home and that was also smooth and easy.

Glassmakers and their guide no-showed and failed to communicate cancellation. I booked this trip nearly a year in advance. Day off we drove an hour to the air strip. Neither Cindy nor Mark were there and we were informed Luke would be our guide. Stood next to the plane for 45 minutes, never met Luke. Met the other couple in our group. Met the check in lady who worked at the air strip. But not a single person from this company. Instead, we heard grumblings from OTHER tours that they were cancelling the morning trip due to fog. (The Glassmakers dont control the weather, I get that). We go inside and the woman at the counter is able to move us to the afternoon trip at 1:00. So, weve got 4.5 hours to kill. Still no word from Glassmakers our their guide. We drive the hour back to our accommodations to eat, relax, regroup. While there, Mark texts me around 10:30: you are CONFIRMED for 1:00, be there 12:30. When I dont immediately respond I get the follow up please confirm text, so I do. We then drive the hour BACK to the airstrip to be there by 12:30. We arrive. Still no Mark. Still no Cindy. Still no Luke. Still no anyone from the company. Just the lady at the airstrip. She explains the dog never lifted so the afternoon trips have also been cancelled but we can rebook a later date. (No, we cant, we leave Alaska in two days). I text Mark my disappointment and he immediately calls to apologize explaining the air strip never kept him updated about the weather (dude, we didnt pay the airstrip $1200 to go fishing, we paid YOU). We tried to salvage the day by renting gear from an outfitter in Soldotna and flossing for sockeye in lower Kenai, but would have preferred to not spend the day driving back and forth for four hours to the airstrip. Cindy did promptly write me a check for a refund which she mailed to my home address. Again, I know they cant control the weather thats not my issue. Having NO ONE there from the company and failing to communicate about the weather upon pushing back the trip so we dont waste another drive across the peninsula thats my issue.
