It was awesome. The food was great. Great way to enjoy Alaska for your first time. Can't wait until next time. Did I mention the food was great?

It's time in Alaska. The outfit is poorly organized.. nickle dime you for equipment above what we paid, which was not explained. The equipment we used was terrible. You dont get to see you fish until you get home to see if ita right. No direction on weather safety on open ocean. The fish finder was supposed to have a chip to give clear details on contour and depth etc well they didn't say anything until the last day.....food was fine. It would have been nice for them to call ask what we thought. I asked why my box of fish didn't have my salmon I caught and got no reply... they just want to take your money

I genuinely don't understand the low reviews here. I'm assuming they're from people that are used to chartered fishing trips where they don't even have to bait their own hooks. To be clear, this is a fairly remote fish camp/lodge, accessible only by boat and powered by generator. You get a real rustic self guided experience that also includes wifi (spotty at times), hot water, washing machines, TV, and plenty of food. If that's what you're looking for, that's what you'll find. We had an excellent trip August 2021. The entire staff was great and attentive. I don't think we could have asked for more. The lodge is well appointed. The cabin was comfortable, but spartan. What you'd expect for a fish camp. Food was good and plentiful. Boats are older skiffs with fresh outboards. Some are missing amenities like rod holders for storage while traveling, but these are nice to have and don't make or break the trip. There are options for covered boats and better seats, but I appreciate the budget option for the more basic skiff. Provided equipment was decent and the staff was very interested in helping through any issues. Tap water in the camp is cistern sourced and discolored with a slight smell, but there is purified water in the lodge. I had the benefit of ~40 years of Alaska fishing experience at this lodge to draw from on my first trip, which admittedly makes a difference. For a first timer without an experienced group, I would suggest a few things: boat seats that attach to the bench on skiffs, high quality rain gear and boots, a face shield to block wind and rain while moving, good rubber gloves with spares for when they get wet, and plan on fishing in the rain. Stick to well marked channels to avoid rocks, and pay attention to the weather forecast. Wear layers. We had swings from 50's to about 80 degrees and we're soaking wet one day and wearing sunblock and t-shirts the next day.
