We had a fantastic time fishing with Rum Runner Charters! We caught a limit of halibut in the first hour and then limited on rockfish before noon. We answered a nearby MayDay call, which cut our day short, so we completed our charter on another day and limited on both species again! Our crew was a delight. Both our captain and mate were named Luke, and we immediately felt comfortable with them. They were a lot of fun! The boat is comfy and well equipped. Plenty of room for a party of 4. If we return to Juneau, we'll definitely fish with them again!

Captain Chris gave us the experience of a lifetime! I chose Rum Runner because I wanted a more intimate experience, rather than the larger whale watching boats, when you are clamoring for the best viewing spot. Not only did we see many whales up close, but we saw eagles and sea lions! The captain and ship mate were very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to go for the action. My family and I will never forget the magical sights and sounds. Thank you!

If you need a great fishing charter, this the one! Picked us up from our boat promptly! We had a great time fishing. Luke and Trevor were great guides! Very knowledgeable about the local area and the fish and they stopped so we could see the whales. We were Halibut and Rock fishing and we caught our limit on both. Very enjoyable trip and if we ever go back, we will use them again! Highly recommend.

Adrianne (Captain) and Luke (Deckhand) were great guides! The experience was great and Pearl was a comfortable boat. My only concern was we were out for a full day of fishing and some of the fish were gutted while on the boat and others werent, but none were put on ice. It was just water from Auke Bay, that was changed out once over 8 hours. After reading about the practice of using ice versus water, it does seem like it would have been better practice to use crushed ice. Looking forward to tasting the fish and seeing if I can tell the difference (we were on a boat fishing trip a few days prior that put the fish on ice).

Thanks for your review and picture. I understand you had a spectacular day fishing! I heard your Captain limited you on Coho (18) and troll caught you two incidental Halibut (good thing she had the foresight to bring one of our permits). And there were bubble netting whales next to you! Sounds like a pretty busy day, congratulations.I understand your concerns, but rest assured your fish with be of highest quality (we have been doing this for 30+ years). All our boats are equipped with high quality ice chests and our ocean water here is frigid to say the least. I checked with your captain and the water was changed out a couple of times, once by Luke and once by Adrianne, you may have missed it during the action. If not having ice concerned you, I wish you had brought it up to your Captain, as Pearl has a freezer on board with ice jugs to use, if necessary. All your fish were bled to preserve quality as soon as they were brought aboard, then into the ice chest. Cleaning of fish usually waits until back at the dock at the fish cleaning stations (that’s why they are there). The fact that the deckhand cleaned some of the fish while on the water was to get ahead of the work back at the dock. Your boat in Sitka caught four salmon (3 Kings and a Coho) so the crew had more time to clean fish between hits. This all pretty much standard practice here and what the processors ask for. Please enjoy your fish when it comes and check out the difference between the taste of Kings (an oilier salmon) and the Coho (a milder salmon)Smooth Seas,Capt. Chris
