Hi Ryan Cortazzo, first and foremost we apologize that you left our small family business unhappy. We strive for the 5-star experience even on very busy days like Sundays. We have since reached out to you to express our apologies over the phone and understand that you would not like to further discuss. We 100% understand your frustration and your wish to leave this review. We do want to clarify some things from your review, since we believe some miscommunication might have occurred. Unlike other barbershops where you face away from the mirror, in our shop you are facing multiple large mirrors in front and on the side. We will gladly provide additional mirrors if asked, but in our 20 years in Fairbanks, we have rarely been asked since all parts of the service are clearly viewable through the larger mirrors before leaving. With the vast majority of our clientele being repeat and long standing customers, we will try to work on remembering to offer an additional mirror to new clients. On busy weekends, we hope clients understand that we are human and always try to fix any mistakes if they occur. Yesterday, the barber gave you an eyebrow wax and tried to assist in giving you a fuller brow aesthetic to match your long hair and beard. We are happy to always make minor adjustments like the one the other Barber did for you with a few hairs that you felt were too long. It was a quick one second adjustment and wasn't immediately able to be fixed by the original Barber as she had already started another client. You stated you were very particular about your eyebrows, and we hope some grace is given, as it was your first time in our shop and everyone has their own preferences. We are happy that you were able to leave with your eyebrows the way you wanted them. As for the edge up on the hairline, the Barber asked if she could at least taper or clean up the hair, as the hair and beard were too long for what you were asking. You stated that you didn’t want a haircut or trim and only wanted the neckline and around the ears to your beard trimmed with an edger. The Barber kindly only charged $10 for this, with a discount on the eyebrows as well. In the phone call, you had mentioned that you paid $50 somewhere else to get a haircut “to fix your haircut.” We agree that if our Barber did a haircut, you would have left happier as well. We will review how to better turn down a new client who is asking for a service that is not suitable without a proper haircut. Only needed a clean up around the ears, neck line, and eyebrows. Neck line was the only thing that wasn't awful. Most barbers hand you a mirror at the end so you can closely inspect the work before leaving. Should have taken it as a sign when she didn't. Got to my truck only to find several crazy long eyebrow hairs sticking out after she had "trimmer" them down. Went back in, and the male barber trimmed them down better. Upon further examination, the lines around my ears weren't even close to being the same. I was forced to go and pay a different barber to fix this mistake. Worst experience I've had at a barber in years.”
