We went on a winter tour with James and it was the best tour I have ever been on. He took the time to get to know us and our likes and catered to that. We were there on one of the coldest winter days and I cant think of a better way to have spent the day. He has such a passion for Alaska, the culture and the history. His passion was contagious and my 10 year old is planning our summer trip back. We saw moose, eagle and Dahl sheep on our adventure in the wild. Due to the cold we didnt get to take the glacier hike, but James made sure we saw the glaciers. I cant say enough good things about this tour!

If this is your first time to Alaska or just want to see Alaska from a locals eye and discover hidden gems, this is the tour for you. James provides a top tier experience from the vehicle you are picked up in to the communication prior to the tour. During the tour James provides vast knowledge of Alaskas history as well as great photo opportunities. As for the hidden gems I will let him show those to you. I highly recommend this tour and will recommend this to my family and friends.

James is a great tour guide, very knowledgeable of the area, with interesting facts that you won't get from a large tour bus. The vehicle was top notch, and his detail to safety on the roads is second to none. Due to the weather we weren't able to see the glacier, so James recommended an alternate stop that was unique and impressive. Would recommend anyone who wants to get a private tour to book with this outfit. 5 stars isn't enough!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. James was an unexpected delight at the end of our cruise. We wanted private transportation for ourselves and another couple we were traveling with. We were looking for something more in depth than a bus or train ride. We found it with James! He is so knowledgeable about Alaska: people, wildlife, history. He really made Alaska come alive for us! In addition, hes a great host, providing snacks, water, umbrellas, jumping up to open car doors and helping those of us who are too short to reach the ground from his Suburban. Just a great guy providing a not to be missed service. Thank you James!

I am a travel agent and did a lot of research trying to find the best option to get my 12-year-old son and me from Seward to Anchorage after our recent cruise in Alaska. I had debated taking the train as it does afford great views and is a frequent choice but I didn't like that we would not be able to stop anywhere along the way. I also wanted to get to the heart of Alaska and really experience some of the outstanding stops en route to Anchorage. My son and I feel so blessed to have found James and Welcome Anchorage Tours.! We had an amazing day and loved every spot on our tour! We were able to see and do so much in a limited time. The flexibility to customize our stops to the locations that we really wanted to see and to spend as much or as little time in each place as we wanted was incredible. James was patient and kind enough to guide us on the hiking trails to the glaciers (even providing some much-needed bug spray), took photos for us along the way, and gave us some free time to make memories just the two of us. The abundance of information that James has to share with you on your tour from the history of the area, facts about the flora and fauna, and personal narratives relating to his years living in Alaska are the perfect backdrop for your adventure with Welcome Anchorage Tours. James' passion for Alaska and for sharing it with others is refreshing. We learned way more about Alaska on our tour with James than we would have on a pre-programmed train or bus tour.
