        Beautiful hike, always windy

        Did it yesterday after work, and it was AMAZING! The weather this summer has been pretty windy and cloudy, but it cleared up and was a good trip. The trail was clear of snow until a few sections of the ballpark and then lower half of scree up to the peak. Once on top, I never crossed any snow, but it was pretty windy. It took about 3 and a half hours and 9 miles round trip. Definitely not as intimidating as it looks!

        The most amazing views near AnchoRAGE. Bar none, accept no substitutes, your mileage may vary. Roughly 4 miles from the Flatop Trailhead parking lot, depending on your route. On a clear day you can see Denali 145 miles to the North, Mt Redoubt 115 miles West, the Chugach mountain range stretching to the East and a good chunk of the Kenai peninsula to the South. You feel like you are on top of the world. A difficult hike to be sure, don't attempt if you are afraid of heights but definately worth the effort.
