Copper Whale is a gem in downtown Anchorage! Lorene was super communicative and I felt so taken care of! Everything is contactless, and didn't interact in-person with anyone, but the instructions Lorene provided were spot-on, and check-in/check-out was seamless. My room - Salmon Berry - was cozy, and the bed was super comfortable. The Inn had thoughtful amenities - coffee pods, machines and water kettle in the room, plus a good help-yourself style breakfast of cereal, yogurt, etc. - and the location can't be beat. I would definitely stay here if I travel to Anchorage again.

We enjoyed our winter stay at the Copper Whale Inn. Our room had a nice view of Cook Inlet. I enjoyed walking walking down to the park below the Inn to take sunrise and sunset photos. Our room was warm and quiet. I definitely recommend Copper Whale Inn. Rooms: Our view room was warm and quiet even though it was 20 below outside. It was well equipped, and the kitchen area provided additional comforts such as wine glasses. We enjoyed the view of Cook Inlet from our room. Nearby activities: Close to restaurants, downtown, and the park below the inn, which is great for sunrise and sunset pictures. Safety: There are digital locks on the main entrances and door locks on the rooms. We felt secure using our stay. Walkability: Easy walking distance to downtown Anchorage, restaurants, and parks.

I had the most incredible stay at Copper Whale Inn. It is super cute, well run, and feels like youre staying in a house vs a sterile chain hotel. The breakfast every morning is fresh and DELICIOUS. And they have a cute hot cocoa bar at the front. You can tell the owners care deeply about this spot - if youre looking for a great place to stay in Anchorage, look no further. This place sets the bar high for any other spots I visit the rest of this year!

The good: location is great. Can't beat it. And it is a lovely place. Not generic cookie cutter box hotel style. Cozy and comfortable and clean. It was decorated for Christmas and my kid just loved it (and the hot cocoa bar). Great selection for a self-serve breakfast. And service was great. We had a minor issue upon arrival and we were given a few options until it could be corrected the next morning. We didn't really see anyone while we were there but I felt like I could have texted the manager with any type of issue or request and gotten a quick and accomodating response. The less good: Rooms are on the small side but comfortable and really cute. It was a bit of a pain. The door to the room and the sink were right next to the bed so it was impossible not to.wake my family when I got up early. So I just went to the main house for coffee. The not good: parking. Not at all the hotel's fault but should be noted. on street parking exists but in winter you can't park there overnight. There's a parking lot very nearby across the road but it was quite pricey. Luckily you can walk from the hotel to everything downtown.

I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip so I didn't get the time to properly enjoy the location but I really enjoyed my stay! The general manager of the Inn, Lorene, was super friendly and helpful. She personally reaches out to make sure your stay is going great. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and the bed was comfy. My only regret was missing that the Copper Whale has no parking at all (which is clearly noted on their website, I just did not catch that while booking 100% my fault), so I had to park in the pay-to-park lot across the street for an extortionate rate. Watch out for that if you're in a rental.

Thank you so much for your review! I'm so happy you enjoyed the decorations and the cozy feel. You've named the two downsides that I can't completely fix, unfortunately. The rooms are all different shapes and sizes, and with each one I look for ways to improve the arrangement to make it the best that it can be. It's an endeavor I will always keep in front of me, and always be improving. The parking is another one that can't be helped much, though a vehicle isn't needed while in Anchorage, for the most part, you are correct. I am always keeping my eyes open for an opportunity in parking as well, for those that must have a car. You can park on the street in the winter, but it's a calculated risk based around plowing probability. I wish parking downtown were less expensive and that is something I do work on with the community when given an opportunity to give my input. I hope you will come back and stay with us again!-Candice

Thank you so much for your nice feedback! Yes, the parking situation downtown can be expensive. Meters are free at night, but in the winter they could be plowing, which can be problematic. I'm waiting for more downtown property to fall in my lap. I'll let you know when it does hahaha. But for the average vacation visitor, we are within walking distance to everything you need.
