I inquired to this church about accommodations for my special needs son who has a service dog. Service dog currently attends Anchorage school, all my sons therapies, and anywhere he goes (zoo, movies, you name it). I submitted legal documentation from the united states military in regards to the service dog to this church to review as well. But they denied us attending their services. They were however friendly in their communications with me. But kept referring to my sons service dog as a "dog" instead of the proper legal name, implying it was an untrained pet who served no purpose to aiding his disability. For those with special needs kiddos and those who have service dogs, this church is NOT service dog friendly and would not be accomidating or welcoming as a church should be towards those who are different and born the way God intended them to be. I wish I had a better review! But I wanted to offer the early warning to all those who wish to attend this location and are special needs or who have kids who are. Luckily there are still many churches in anchorage who are still special needs friendly and we will look into attending those! Edit for response from church: All should be welcomed in Gods house. If it had been a wheelchair my son used and not a service dog (also legal medical equipment), would you have also denied him worship in the Lords house? Or a cane? Or braces? Or hearing aids? Etc. Would those have been denided as well? It is ungodly to deny the disabled access to Gods word. I am praying for your church to come to truly come to God and accept all those who are willing to hear the word of God! Despite their differences and disabilities for we are all the same under Gods eyes. Discrimination of your church towards a child is unkind, and it is not from God. Does not the bible tell us it is better to have a stone hung around your neck and to be cast into the sea then to lead one of these little ones to sin?? Jesus offers a welcoming table and instructs his followers in the nature of hospitality with the words, "when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind" (Luke 14:13) No one should be left out from Gods table. You provoke the Lord to anger. May your pastor and elders see this and acknowledge these sins before God before they are also cast into the lake of fire. If it is your hand that causes you to sin cut it off for you are better to live your life with one hand and lame then to be cast into hell. Do not be fooled into thinking he tolerates sin of any kind. All sin leads to death. You are not the owners of the church. It is Gods house not yours. He has commanded you are to welcome all. If you are unable to welcome all then your church does not honor the will of the Father who is in heaven. Seek to humble yourselves before him and ask for mercy. May your hearts be changed and softened towards those who are different and disabled so you may grow to accept the Lord as he has called you to do.
