UAB Callahan Eye Clinic - Tuscaloosa

Very upset that I am unable to come to this provider since the shift to UAB medicine. Was told after the switch I would be contacted, and never heard from them so went to a big box provider for my 2023 appointment. I tried to make an appointment for this year and cannot receive one until August! I really like Dr. Lankawel, but the UAB service has been less than ideal.

Doctors and staff are nice, but UAB sucks. Won't take vision insurance.

I showed up for my 1:30 appointment 10 minutes early, filled out all my paperwork online beforehand as asked, and provided everything asked for to make this a smooth appointment. After waiting 1:20 hours past my scheduled appointment. I got up and left. Not once did the staff try to update me as to why it was taking so long. I recommend going elsewhere. The service is terrible.

Dr. Michelle Langkawel is wonderful. She has always been extremely patient with me and takes time to problem solve my eye dilemmas, with a touch of much needed humor! All the staff there are always so kind and personable!! You cant go wrong by choosing this doctor and office for all your eye needs. I highly recommend their office!

I've been going to Dr. Sputh for years and really like him but the recent affiliation with UAB seems to have caused chaos in the scheduling process and overcrowding in his practice. My recent appointment was changed without any notice to me and my wife was told after sitting in the waiting room for an hour that she didn't have an appointment, despite the fact that she had written documentation of her appointment time. They also charged her the insurance copay despite the fact that she was not seen. The receptionist was rude and dismissive. We will be looking for a new opthamologist.
