This will be a detailed review. We started the pinhoti trail and went 7.8 miles to county road 56 . This is the best marked trail I've ever hiked with two sign in books along the way and a nice new shelter. There are a few benches along the trail as well as some monuments marking the trail. The trail had several steep climbs and two wash out areas that were difficult. Toward the end of the trail loggers destroyed the route with heavy equipment which made it hard to finish. Overall the trail was awesome. You will arrive at the tower roughly 2 miles after you start. You will also pass by the cabins and the common area which are cool. We meet the trail keepers who's trail names are Chuck Norris and Tigger. Great people who offered us drinks and a lot of useful info. They are serious hikers with the Appalachian trail already under there belt. Bring plenty of water. The trail doesn't get near the creek much at all. Great hike!
