The First Bank

I opened my first account with this bank 11 years ago, when I first moved to the Saraland / Chickasaw area. I loved having a truly local bank where the staff knew by name. I kept my account even after I married and moved to Texas, because I owned a rental property in the area and wanted to continue to give such a great little bank my business, and whenever I had questions or challenges I could call and speak with someone without any fuss. However, within the last few years they have been bought by some larger conglomerate, and the service has dropped considerably. They added a fee to my checking account which had not been part of the original account agreement, and I can no longer even find a number for the local branch - everything must go through some labyrinthine customer service portal. At this point there is absolutely no advantage to using this bank over one of the larger businesses. One more blow to truly local economies. As soon as I sell my rental property, I'll be closing my account here.
