My dad used to say that "your insurance is only as good as your agent."  Kelly DeFord epitomizes that in spades!  I've been with ALFA for probably 30+ years now and not once did I have a problem with any of their agents.  They were all extremely nice and not once did they condescend nor belittle someone for asking a question regarding insurance.  I even had one ALFA agent break down and explain in detail a question I had regarding comprehensive coverage and he did it with a smile.Then I met Kelly DeFord....boy did it sour my perception of ALFA!She'd at times talk down to you which is a BIG no-no to a customer!  She has NO bedside manners at all, no business being an insurance agent and would be better suited as a liberal New England lawyer.  She condescends and belittles anyone who doesn't understand something insurance related and her attitude needs more work than a run down decrepit Victorian mansion. The only reason I stayed with her is because ALFA was the cheapest; I checked with Farmers, Allstate and State Farm and others and I would've had to pay about $1000 more for coverage.  However a blessing came to me because due to some kind of "changes" my insurance agent is now at another ALFA location so I don't have to deal with this ill-mannered woman anymore.  How Kelly go to be an insurance agent is anyone's guess!  My advice: if you can't leave this woman due to cost then ask to be assigned to another ALFA agent which looking back is probably what I should have done after the first time she acted like an a** to me.

I spoke to Kelly Deford about insurance, and it was a bad experience. My parents have used ALFA for years, so I sought them out. It seemed as though the insurance premiums were significantly higher than other so I asked about changing the coverage amounts. (I certainly do not have over $150,000 of possessions in my house). I was given fairly ambiguous answers and felt as though I was being told simplified versions of the policies. It was not sufficient. Every time I told Kelly that I was looking at other companies, she would find another discount that was miraculously available despite the fact that the last three quotes I got were "the lowest quote I could have gotten." I was not pleased, so I tried to work through a different ALFA agent. Kelly called me to let me know that she was watching her system, and that I had to work with her if I wanted to go through ALFA. Regardless of her intent, it came across as incredibly manipulative and threatening. I will never use ALFA, but if you want to I encourage you to pick very carefully who you get your initial quote from because it is apparently not an option to change if you are not content.
