We recently moved into a home with and AC/heat unit that is supposed to be of high quality and is less than 2 years old. The previous home owner provided the paperwork showing that the warranty was transferable and the unit was purchased from Associated Equipment. A few days ago, there was a significant problem with the unit which resulted in an AC company coming out to repair the unit. While in communication with Associated Equipment, the AC guys were instructed to replace a board. The board was defective and another board was ordered. After installation of the board, the board was overheating, indicating another problem. Upon inspection by the owner of the AC company, he noticed the unit had other problems that would not justify repairing it - it was not cost effective, and Associated Equipment was just "piecing" it together when it really needed to be replaced. After 3 days of the AC company owner arguing with Assoc. Equip. about replacing the unit, Assoc. Equip. said they would need to have the unit brought to them for testing. They would determine if it needed replacement. What? Are we supposed to be without heat in the middle of Jan? It was 38 degrees last night! The owner of the AC company has been in business for decades and is well respected in the community. He was not trying to take advantage of Assoc. Equip., he was trying to have them honor a warranty and replace a defective unit. In the end, we had to go with a completely new unit (and one NOT made in China) so we would not be without heat. The owner of the AC company is working with us to absorb some of the cost of the new unit since this should not be happening. That's what you call an amazing business man who treats his clients like family. I urge you NOT to do business with Assoc. Equip. if you are at all interested in having the ability to use the warranty on your unit.
