After covid hit this practice declined. I had to remind them I had no bloodwork completed in over 12 months, I had more than one canceled appointment by the physicians office in a 12 month period (non covid times ) and it took 7+ days for a patient portal question to be answered while I was out of state getting chemo. Found a dependable practice to handle my health needs. This comes from a 23 year clinical Administrator at a major Medical Center in Virginia. After being a 7+ year established patient at this primary care office I was very disappointed.

Trust!! It's a must for me with a Dr and the Staff. I trust Dr P and April, the staff. I am aware despite my medical training I'm not the best at explaining to Dr what's up with me. Been with Dr P for over 12 yrs. I trust him. I like him and April. I know if something doesn't work whe will try something else. He also understands I'm human , so when I feel bad I try to just tell him how my body feels in my own way. Communication is key with your Dr. And I know Dr P encourages working with my other specialist.

Dr. Patellis is nice enough, however he will not look you in the eye when hes talking to you (women for sure). He doesnt give you any vital information for your use to improve your health.
He frowns on working with your specialists. And heaven forbid you have a word with his wife in any manner. He will treat you horribly and they will schedule your appointments out a year. I know because he and the staff did that to me.
One appointment I had, I arrived 15 minutes early (as I always did). An elderly women was at the desk talking with the staff member a very long time. I sat right behind her waiting to check in. Finally, the lady left the window and I went to the window to check in for my appointment. The staff member told me I was late and would not let me stay for my appointment. I drove all the way in from Athens, waited 25 minutes and they refused to see me. I sent an email to the office manager (Mrs. Patellis), stating that it was not right the way I was treated. I come in as a regular patient and always have to wait; way beyond the 15 minutes I usually arrive early. That one time, due to another patient being at the window so long (evidently having a problem); I was refused service. That is totally wrong. I always wait and have never said a word. On this situation, which had nothing to do with my arrival time, Im refused. Mrs Patellis sent me a very rude response back telling me it was their policy. She did not consider the situation, she did not acknowledge my wait nor that I was refused to be seen.
For the heck of it...I called back to re schedule my appointment and it was scheduled out one whole year! It was June 2020 when I was refused to be seen at my appointment and I was rescheduled for June 2021.
Yes, I changed doctors and so glad I did!
Do not be fooled that Mr. Patellis is polite or a soldier. They dont care for their patients. I was a patient of his three years. I sent them holiday cards every year, was polite and forgiving for having to sit for so long at appointments. But they did not treat me well at all.
Patients - beware for calling him! You will change in time if you do.
