image I am extremely grateful to have had a home built during this market. Most of the people were extremely nice. However, this company looks out mainly for themselves. They say a lot of good things, but if its not in writing, they will not keep their word. So, make sure that if you use this builder you get EVERYTHING in writing. Even the things that seem insignificant.
Our home was not picture perfect when we closed. Unknowingly, we couldnt even go upstairs on our first night, which caused a lot of extra cost on our end having to rent a Uhaul twice and get workers twice. We were told things would be completed before we moved in and that just wasnt the case.
Also, the flooring (vinyl) was not the same quality that was shown in the showroom. It literally ripped like paper when a wheel rolled across it. (When we contacted the flooring company, they said oh, you mustve rolled it at an angle). We were told that this would last at least 15 years, but its so thin. Not only is it thin, bubbles keep popping up and some type of brown residue keeps appearing from no where. It has been very disappointing.
Not only is the flooring disappointing, the floors are not leveled. Since we built on a slab of concrete, I asked the construction manager if they would fix the uneven flooring he said of course however, I cant even use furniture I purchased for that location, because it wobbles. It was not leveled.
We were also missing things, like mirrors, a window screen, lights, grass, irrigation system, towel holders, shelves, transitional flooring pieces . One bathrooms flooring was installed completely crooked. They had us sign a last minute change order (that needed to be signed ASAP), when we asked why we didnt hear back from them. When we arrived we saw why we had a new oddly shaped wood flooring added.
I know that a home will not be perfect. I was just disappointed in the craftsmanship I received, compared to all the other homes. It took roughly 15 months and I feel it was just thrown together at the end. I know the workers were tired and they all seemed overwhelmed and exhausted, but with the cost we have to pay building a house. I expected a whole lot more and better quality.

image Update: cut back to 3 stars because we did not receive a timely notification of their readiness to close on the house. They called us a week and half before their dictated closing date. When I attempted to talk to someone to schedule another day I got the corporate run around and was threatened with an exorbitant fee if I did not comply with their closing schedule.
We locked in a rate with their lender Silverton mortgage for far longer than was needed, it turns out. I do believe that the lender had my closing target dates before I did and that they saw an opportunity to get more money out of me by pushing for a longer rate lock. They are now trying to change my rates, which is illegal.
So much for transparency. I definitely feel like I have been bullied by both the builder and the lender at this point. I doubt they are any worse than any of the other builders out there. We have not yet closed on our new home. I'm holding out hope that they will do the right thing. Will update again after closing.
Original: Goodall homes has streamlined the home building process to make it as easy as possible for the buyer. They've included enough options to meet every family's needs without the hassle of full customization. But my favorite thing about Goodall homes so far is their transparency. In the height of a pandemic when nothing has gone to plan, Goodall homes has kept us updated and in the loop on material delays and shortages. And with every obstacle, they've adjusted their process to overcome it as quickly as possible. We are definitely looking forward to moving into our new home.

image Although my home is not complete I highly recommend Goodall Homes. Taylor was wonderful and helped make my first home buying experience easy. She was very friendly and informative. Heather was very kind and did an excellent job helping me pick out my design options. Laura and Jonathan are very nice and give me a weekly update as the house progresses. I am glad I picked Goodall Homes to build my first home.

image Steve Hammond was a pleasure to work with, Very thorough. It felt personal and not just like a business transaction. We ended up putting a contract in Last April but due to build time and having to go to Nashville just to see the model home of our floor plan. My husband and I decided to get our earnest money back and go with a different builder with the new construction home being finished in 7 months vs waiting a yr. Steve and his team made it happen right away. Just for that and great communication also letting us get a refund shows they are all about making the customer happy. I would definitely do business with them again if I move again in the future.
