Village Parc Apartments that Southeastern is over has changed management several times and I've only contacted two of them, myself. The guy that got my lease started was super informative and friendly, but didn't work there within a month of our move in, which caused some leasing issues and back and forth with the office, which they were patient with and helped get settled easily. That's about the end of pleasantness. When we first rented in Village Parc, it was $700/mo. I understand rent going up, but the amount within three years was a bit much (increased to $880 last year and then to $975 this year- almost $300/mo) especially considering we got less than what we started with and lack of upkeep on the property. They claim 2 pools, but since we moved in 2021, they've been closed due COVID and had not reopened except one on the farther side of the complex for maybe a month. We were also told there was on-site laundry, but weren't able to find it before purchasing our own washer/dryer. Maintenance had a 50% chance of being really prompt and informative. Sometimes they would leave without telling you if it's fixed, waiting on parts, an estimated working time, or anything at all. There were no parking lines at my unit and we always had others using more than the two allotted spaces on top of atrocious parking due others spacing. Our unit also had graffiti with foul language on the side that was never completely cleaned off along with graffiti on our side's dumpster. The windows on the units could use some extra insulation or sound proofing as this same unit has only a fence separating it from the bar across a parking lot and bar music can be heard from the kitchen and upstairs bedroom windows whenever the bar's side door opens. My main reason for leaving other than price would be the little concern Southeastern showed in tenant issues. If they addressed any issues, it was through a somewhat passive aggressive seeming text instead of leaving more professional letter about property issues. I contacted them many times by phone, text, and to the manager in person only for them to do nothing about newer neighbors breaking lease rules (smoking inside unit, not picking up dog poo - have videos of both) and state laws (weed scent coming through our vents). I had tried to speak with the neighbors first about the smells coming in the vents but they only smoked inside more often causing my unit to absolutely reek inside and kept walking their dog into the back of my unit to leave poo and make the outside smell just as bad. Between the smell and constant screaming of profanities at the dog or each other to be heard through the walls and slamming of doors, we even discussed trying to just move to another unit within the complex, but were told we would have to pay a new tenant deposit and all costing quite a bit to get away from the neighbors. What they did not mention at this time was that rent had increased in August so come December 15, 2 weeks before our lease end and just before Christmas, we would be informed that with renewal, that new tenant price would be our new rental price. Though unable to confront the neighbors about lease/law breaking, the manager did come to our door to confront my boyfriend over a very angry text he sent questioning the increase (ring footage and text screenshots). I wish tenants were given an option to disclose any anxiety, autism, or depression to better handle issues management may have with a tenant. Currently, I'm still waiting to hear back from a voicemail left for them about a $150 mattress disposal fee taken from my deposit that was supposed to be reissued (discussed 30 days ago) as we had movers bring all furniture we owned to the new residence. The person I spoke with said it was probably from someone else moving at that time (like they simply took it from both of us with no certainty). This is on top of a $150 Reset Fee to basically turn the unit and rent to the next tenant that was added into the second renewal so not expected to be kept when I originally paid my deposit.
