image Update 3/29/24: In my original review below, I expressed significant frustration and disappointment with my experience at this dealership, highlighting the long delays, poor communication, and unexpected costs. Since then, there has been a notable development that I feel is important to share.
After my ordeal, the issue with my car persisted despite the dealership's efforts and the considerable time and money spent. With minimal knowledge of car mechanics, I took it upon myself to research and diagnose the problem. Surprisingly, I was able to identify and fix the issue in under 10 minutes and for less than $25, a stark contrast to the dealership's approach and costs. The solution was found through a simple YouTube search, which suggested that the fix I applied should have been one of the first checks for the symptoms my car was exhibiting.
This experience has led me to two possible conclusions: either there was a lack of competence in diagnosing and addressing the issue, or there was an attempt to upcharge for repairs that could have been resolved much more simply and cheaply. This situation, especially in light of the information readily available about common car issues, casts a shadow over the integrity and reliability of the dealership's service department.
Given these developments, my confidence in the dealership's service quality and ethics has been further eroded. It's disheartening to think that what was presented as a complex and costly repair could have been resolved so easily and inexpensively.
Original: I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my recent experience at this dealership. This was not a simple, straightforward car repair process, as one would expect from a reputed service provider. Instead, it turned into a two-and-a-half-month ordeal filled with poor communication, delays, and unexpected costs.
Firstly, the time taken to fix my car was unreasonably long. The dealership held my car for over two months, blaming the delay on a part that was back-ordered. While I understand that certain parts may not always be immediately available, the dealership gave us four different dates for the arrival of the part, none of which were accurate. Only after pressuring the dealership did the part suddenly become available within a week, a process that throws into question their initial claims about availability.
The communication throughout this process was severely lacking. Updates were not provided unless prompted, and when they were, they often came with revised timelines that were never met. As a customer, I felt left in the dark, unsure of when I would finally get my car back and uncertain about the validity of the reasons given for the continuous delays.
Perhaps the most frustrating part of the ordeal was the final bill. Not only did I receive a shock when the part in question was suddenly available, but there was also a 20% increase in cost over the original quote given to us. This substantial difference was blamed on the part being found at another dealership rather than the manufacture which, again, is understandable. However, this change in cost was never communicated to us before the repair was completed, leaving us with an unexpected and significant additional expense. My choice as a customer was taken out of my hands.
In conclusion, my experience with this dealership was incredibly disappointing. The long delays, poor communication, and lack of transparency regarding costs have left me questioning their credibility. I hope others will consider my experience before choosing this dealership for their service needs.
