In my experience they do everything they can with limited funding. There actually is a lot of red tape when it comes to Medicaid, Medicare, the rights of an individual. It's a part of the Alabama Department of Mental Health. On Mondays they are available for any new intakes. There are three offices in each county - Cherokee, Etowah, DeKalb (C.E.D.) And, I believe Etowah would be the more convoluted of the three since Etowah has a much larger population than Cherokee and Dekalb. I imagine that when an emergency/crisis arises they have to drop everything and focus on those people that are on the verge of harming themselves and/or others. I can also imagine these emergencies can happen at a moment's notice and it may not be only one at a given time. That one office in Attalla serving for Etowah is providing mental health services to area with a population of over 100,000 people.

Dr. Khusro does not care if you get your medication(s) or not. She will only decrease or remove you from medications (even medications you've taken for years), she will never add a new one or increase dosage if needed if you have new or worsening symptoms. If you have a medication you need to take regularly, Dr. Khusro does not care if you run out or have enough refills or not. If you can get through to someone in the office (due to call screening), they will not be any help. Some therapists do care about their patients, but Dr. Khusro does not care if you have you medications or need them.

This is one of the worst places I've ever been. They never answer the phone. I called to get an emergency session with my therapist because I was feeling really suicidal after having a manic episode. I left many voicemails, and never recieved a phone call back from anyone. And I expressed the severity of my problems over the message. I had to seek treatment else where. Then I get a phone call 3 months later asking of I was ok. What was the point of calling 3 months later? Then I had another incident when my step son was expressing that he felt as if he needed help because his head was in a dark place and etc.... so I called them and scheduled an appointment. They said it would be over the phone and we waited by the phone all day and nobody called nor ever called. If I could give 0 stars I would..
