Harbor House Inn

This is the ideal place to spend a long weekend in coastal Maine. The Inn is quaint, clean, and lovely, and the innkeeper Kristi is a wonderful host and fabulous cook. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We loved staying here! It was beautiful and perched just above all the action, with lovely views of the bay. Kristie was a great hostess, and breakfasts were amazing. We particularly liked having a suite, which included not only a small kitchen but also a view deck on the back side overlooking the yard, trees and the bay. Nearby activities: Kristie is happy to make dinner reservations, as she did for us to Ports of Italy just down the street. We highly recommend the botanic gardens and the drive down Ocean Point road, where you can park and walk on the ocean. Noteworthy details: Ample parking right by premises. If you have trouble with stairs would not choose second floor, as stairs are steep and rather narrow. Its an 1865 house!

The Harbor House Inn was a great place to stay in Booth Bay Harbor Maine. The suite with a separate bedroom and a deck and kitchenette and sitting area provided a nice amount of space, very fresh, clean and comfortable with a wonderful view of Boothbay Harbor from the private deck. The stay was just what my husband and I were looking for. We would definitely return and highly recommend this Inn. Kristie Chapman, the hostess and chef was so kind, attentive and helpful. She is an amazing cook as well. We stayed three nights, July 24th through 27th 2023 and enjoyed our stay very much. Upon adding the third night to our stay, we were offered two free tickets to see the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. They were beautiful and we were glad to see them, if only for a quick visit...still, so many flowers and fountains and sculptures to see, just a nice stop in a very pleasant visit to the Boothbay Harbor area in Maine. Walkability: Only a short walk to the main downtown Boothbay Harbor area with many shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Buyer Beware: Harbor House Inn charges an additional $75 fee if you do not show up, despite paying in full and the rooms being nontransferable. The additional fee is not listed anywhere in the booking agreement. We paid for two nights at Harbor House Inn. We were told they were nontransferable and nonrefundable. We were not able to make our trip to Maine, and since the rooms were both nontransferable and nonrefundable, I didn't complain, but I also didn't call to cancel because their policy is no refund (Due to an unexpected cancellation of our return flight, the other three B&Bs refunded our trip without question.) On top of keeping my full payment, they also charged me $75 without my permission for not officially cancelling because "it did not give them the opportunity to rebook". To be clear, I paid in full for the two nights I was going to be there and they still charged me an additional $75 even though I couldn't give the rooms to friends in the area to use when I couldn't make it. The additional $75 fee is not written anywhere in their policy emailed to me at time of booking. I have spoken to the owner to try and rectify the situation without success.

We had a wonderful stay. Room was perfect for what we needed, inn was close to everything, the view was beautiful, and the breakfast was outstanding. The host made sure we have everything we needed, and gave us great recommendations of surrounding areas to explore. Thank you for making our Boothbay visit most memorable! We'll be back!
