Very disappointed in this lawyer. Gave the retaining fee as asked and use services, They continued to build me even after I stopped using them, I had to ask for an itemized bill and that wasn't given to me for over a month and by the time. I did get that itemized bill. I ended up getting a refund check of almost a thousand dollars, But before that they were still trying to build me an extra five hundred dollars even though they had almost a thousand dollars that needed to be refunded to me. I do not recommend using this lawyer unless you don't mind having them take your money for services. They are not providing

This is an "uncommon" review from an attorney who lost a jury trial to Dixon Kummer--"He kicked my butt in trial."  I graduated from a top LA law school and was trained and taught for many years by stellar attorneys in notable Los Angeles law firms and one multinational corporate law department with 650 attorneys around the world.  Then I came to Bakersfield with my family and practiced law here.  One memorable jury trial I had was against Dixon Kummer.   I had been warned by other local trial attorneys to not underestimate this guy.  I prepared well for my jury trial against Dixon's client.  I represented the plaintiff, and Dixon, the defense.  My client had, I believed, a solid case.  Dixon had a very effective "just plain folks" approach.  He was totally prepared. He conducted his defense with the highest degree of professionalism and honor with the judge, the jury, and with me.  His closing argument was fervent and hit all the right buttons with the jury.  The verdict was not a total defense win, but my client got only a fraction of what we asked for.  The jury trusted him.  I knew I'd been out lawyered. I learned to respect Dixon's skill and appreciated his honesty and hard work.  We've never become "buddies".  I've never gone to lunch with him.  But we have a cordial professional relationship, and, I believe, mutual respect. I will not go to trial against him again.   You can't teach his skills in a school.  Lawyers who can charm a jury like he did are born, not made.

DO NOT HIRE HIM, HERE IS WHY:
I gave Dixon Kummer $950.00 for an eviction case, he promised to send the 60 days notice within 3 days, after two weeks I contacted him to see why he did not send the notice, he claimed that two of his employees quit and a third one became sick, also he was not available for any eviction at that time, since he is in court for another civil case. Finally he sent the 60 days notice too late and on top of it, it was incorrect, after a long discussion he finally sent the notice with the right reasoning. By that time I suffered $1500.00 lost rent. The realtor convinced the tenants to move out before the time expired. Now he is keeping most of my retainer which I trusted him with.
I will report him to the kern county bar association and will take him to court for my money plus financial damages I suffered plus my attorney fees. I hope I can help someone with this review.

We finally executed our trust with Stevie Jo McDonald as of yesterday. She was thorough and explained everything in its entirety. Other than a few minor clerical errors which she immediately fixed, the process went seamlessly. We met with Stevie in March of 2021 after having our third child. We told her our needs and she answered all of our questions. We were finally able to pull together the retainer and she immediately got to work and followed up with us along the way. The notary fee turned out to be $100 more than we were initially told, but that isn't on her but moreso on the notary. We are very much at ease now knowing that we have our trust, will, advanced health care directives and the guardianship for our children under wraps. If you're in need of someone that genuinely cares, Stevie Jo is your person.
