I have been using them for my glasses for many years. They have always pleased me. Fair pricing with great service.

How I disposed of excess cash and acquired some high-grade French eyeglasses, courtesy of two fine Texas professionals. It all began over three years ago at the nearby offices of Dr Broberg, my ophthalmologist. I had come for a prescription for new eyeglasses and I happened to ask him about the business cards I found in his waiting room. He told me that he used OSA for his own needs. And so, confident in my eye doctor’s judgment, I went to see those gentlemen with a view to having new lenses made and fitted to some rather nice Danish frames I had bought at a fancy store on Kerbey Lane. The gentlemen at OSA were quite pleasant and funny and I got regaled with some gossip as Dr Broberg’s prescription got corrected for being too weak. The tidbits were about my ophthalmologist’s mole-like visual acuity, as I recall it. One of the brothers asked for $500, payable in advance, for a new set of midrange Japanese progressive lenses, and we were in business. The lenses were ordered from some place in Nebraska. I picked the assembled eyeglasses up, took them home, and realized I was looking at my surroundings through two milky defects, one in the middle of each lens. I returned the glasses, replacement lenses were made, shipped, and fitted, I picked them up and ran into the exact same problem. And so, I returned the eyeglasses a second time. Finally, the third iteration of the glasses was ready for pick-up. This time I inspected them closely at the store: at long last, the set of lenses was flawless. The gentleman handled the glasses some more, handed them to me, and I was on my way. When I took them out of their case at home, however, I was struck by two changes: one of the temples was damaged near the hinge, probably beyond repair, and one of the new lenses I had scrutinized earlier now had a very visible scratch across it. After a few minutes of incredulous pondering, I just decided that I never wanted to see the damned eyeglasses or the Garrett brothers again. I wrote a little note to that effect, popped the note and their handiwork into a Manila envelope, drove five minutes to the now closed store, and deposited the mess in their mailbox. A couple of months later, I traveled to France, where I stole my mother’s scheduled appointment with her small-town ophthalmologist from Argentina, went to see her small-town optician, found good frames, had measurements made using an advanced automated device I’d never seen in Austin, forked over more than I had wasted on OSA but got a pair of prescription readers thrown in, and had a pair of high-grade computer progressives in my hands within two weeks. I still use them and they always feel like precision optical instruments.

Have been customer of the Garrett brothers for over 20 years......the best! Patient, courteous, professional. Started with them when they were located closer to my home, but wouldn't even think of going elsewhere, even though they are considerably farther away now. Besides being a great "eye guy", Regan is a fine artist. Check out the black and white fish art on the office walls. Barbara Johnston, Austin
