image I wish I did stay here but I was on a Coast to Coast Motorcycle trip from the east coast and came threw this little town at night and I was dead tired and missed the motel and barely made it to the next town (gas was on empty) but everyone I’ve talked to said to stay there it’s great, I’ll make it next trip, just wanted to say how everyone I talked to said this place is great.

image Let me qualify this by saying that I work for a 2-star best western resort property, so I have standards, but I also know when traveling thru on road trips, and I just want a clean comfortable place to lay my head, that my standards tend to a little lower as I'm not wanting to pay $200 a night for resort like amenities.
This is truly one of those places, as you are driving thru town, that you would easily dismiss as looks being deceiving. However, after driving thru the town of Austin, you should quickly summarize that this community is small and a very old, historic community. That alone merits a stop.
I've stayed at every motel in Austin several times I we the past 30 years and you will pleasantly surprised by the accomodations at the Cozy Mountain. But DO PLEASE NOTE: NO PETS ARE ALLOWED. So, just because you see some cats, chickens, turkeys and deer hanging around, that does not make this a pet friendly place. If you have a pet, simply go next door to the Pony Canyon and Kim can accommodate you.
Sara, the owner at the Cozy Mountain, had put in serious time and money to make excellent upgrades to the small, yet very cozy and comfortable rooms.
The rooms actually have more of an intimate feel of a bed and breakfast.
I do not see any ADA rooms at this facility, and that is almost an impossibility as these rooms are converted from what looks to be an old temporary mining quarters Mobil home, and as suck, the units sit on the ground with about an 8" step.  The room I stayed in did not have any sort of a grab rail in the tub area and that would be my only suggestion for a future unit upgrade as half the people traveling are the over 50 crowd and bath tub/shower accidents are the number one place of slips and falls.
The rooms, simply stated, are a bedroom with a very modestly sized and apportioned bathroom. Think of the guest bedroom in the typical middle class house. The bed is fantastic! I obviously using the same or very similar quality mattress (Sealy) as Best Western as it felt the same. Nice pillow top with adequate firmness. This from a person fused at 6-levels. The rooms have beautiful, limited edition prints that fit the areas atmosphere (wildlife). The road have a nice cold fridge and microwave so you can warm up a little dinner or pop a bag of popcorn. The rooms do not have a coffee pot, but their is Keurig with a HUGE selection of coffees and teas, located just a few steps away in the office.
The rooms also have WI-FI which was Awesome.
The bathroom had a nice plush mat, and uses quality hand soaps and has a shower caddy for body wash, shampoo and conditioner, which is very nice. The cash iron tubs just shouts out for a long soak after a long day of driving.
The water pressure is excellent as well if you like those full stream showers.
There are chairs outside all the rooms so you can sit and enjoy your coffee (or dinner from Grandmas in my case), just expect a chicken or cat to take an interest in you. The gray cat is SUPER friendly. I am sure he is good mouser for the properties that are all line up next to each other.
A word of caution about Austin. It is located about 6500 feet and if you are coming from the East, be prepared for a long, slow wind down into the town. DO OBSERVE THE 25mph SPEED LIMIT!
DO GET OUT AND WALK THE STREET AND EXPLORE HISTORY!
DO LEAVE A COUPLE DOLLAR TIP FOR THE HOUSEKEEPER
