Old Town Crier

Great discovery in Warrenton, VA!!! Super homey Italian tiny place... no dining in while we were there (due to insufficient staff), but super attentive and nice staff working the counter and the kitchen, with a nice, smiley old lady taking orders. Family is from Carini in Italy - Vinnie, the Sicilian-born owner is gregarious and friendly. Not your fancy food, but good, tasty, basic Italian food, although they have a larger than usual pizza selection! The calzones were huge! I ordered eggplant Parmigiana, which I hadn't had since High School in New York City! It was a huge serving and as good as I recall from NYC. Easy in and out access from main thoroughfare at edge of beautiful Warrenton, VA. While we were there lots of locals picked up their phoned-in orders, so clearly, the locals like this cool joint. They had "battered cauliflower" on the menu, and I wished that I had ordered some! Finally... the prices were incredibly inexpensive! As though they were still in 1980 or so. Isn't that the basic formula for a myst not miss place: Really good basic food, huge portions, friendly staff and incredibly low prices!!!! No wonder the locals like it so much! My highest recommendation possible.
