Holiday Inn Budd Lake - Rockaway Area, an IHG Hotel

What a hidden gem! Nice rooms, great pool and the breakfast is terrific with great made to order omelettes. Also, I never had fresh blackberries and strawberries in a buffet so good! Only knock is there should be power outlets on the nightstands in the rooms for our chargers. Also no microwave in rooms. Otherwise a great place to stay.

This is one of the better Holiday Inns in my opinion. I say frequently on my way into NYC and every time I stop I know I'm gonna be treated like royalty. Every staff member I've interacted with was just so upbeat and positive and went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. My only complaint I can think of is one of the rooms I stayed in before had a slow draining tub, and the water pressure isn't as great as some. Minor details, this place is great! Their restaurant has good food as well. Special shout out to Daniel. That dude deserves a raise!

Customer service was more than lacking at the front desk. I entered the hotel for check-in having forgot my wallet (a very stressful start to a long weekend away and staying here already for difficult reasons). I explained that I did not have my photo ID clearly almost in tears as it was. The worker rolled his eyes and said sarcastically thats not good showing no empathy or basic customer service skills. He proceeded to ask the necessary questions to confirm my identity and I answered. As he was printing my room cards, I quietly, on the verge of tears, requested that he be cognizant of me with respect as I have made a mistake that is inhibiting my weekend more than this moment. The manager jumped in and restated why the questions were ask and continued to repeat himself not addressing why I had asked for respect. I calmly repeated I understand it was just the tone and eye roll making this uncomfortable and unwelcoming as I understood why the conformational questions were needed. There was no empathy present again. I initially wasnt going to write a review but two hours later when me and my family were in the lobby, the manager was talking loudly and falsely speaking of the scenario to a colleague in the lobby for other guests to hear. The entire situation was unprofessional and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome twice.
