The National Portrait Gallery is a part of the Smithsonian Institution and is free for the public to visit. It is open seven days a week and is one of the most famous museums in Washington, D.C. The museum boasts a vast art collection featuring over 26,000 pieces, including the only complete collection of presidential portraits outside the White House. The museum's center is adorned with a beautiful courtyard, designed with a modern glass roof, where visitors can relax and unwind. The museum is housed in a National Historic Landmark that served as the Old Patent Office in the 19th century.

Beautiful museum full of intriguing portraits and artwork. We went during the Cherry Blossom Festival and they had great activities for kids of all ages. It was time well spent and the President and Mrs. Obama portraits do NOT disappoint. I was surprised and delighted by President Kennedy and President Clinton's portraits as well.
