My persistent disappointment is the lack of human interaction in everything from fast food workers to intake receptionists. An early morning friendly, light-hearted greeting is returned with a dry, mechanistic bearing devoid of virtually any eye contact and a fake smile. Where is the training for how to be human instead of just severely efficient? It matters. It sets the tone. Were in danger of losing our essential human connection with each other, and I cant even get a small dose of sincere hospitality for an 8:15 appt.

I am leaving this review to let you know walla walla valley vision eye center is charging customers extra surprise fees. Basically stealing from citizens.
Everytime we go there, we let them know we only want eye exam services covered by Medicare. We do not want extra tests or services that will be billed to us that we pay out of pocket.
Everytime we leave we are told to go to the front desk and pay $35, $50, etc. there is always a surprise fee!
There is always an extra surprise fee!
After the last exam the gal said to go up front and pay $50. I said what is that for? She said oh, I guess I forgot to tell you about this fee. Its for running the current glasses in a machine to check the lens prescription. Perhaps they could look at patient records to see what the last numbers were?? She said, my fault, I should have told you about the extra fee. Now, go up front and pay today for a tiny discount or we will mail you a bill.
I spoke to my family and several other people in town and they have anll experienced the exact same thing. Always an extra surprise fee!
I once called about a surprise billing for $35 and asked that the extra fee be waived or reduced and they said NO, you must pay it in full Wow, you lost a customer for $35? What a crazy place.
Also, the eye wear (hardware) side of the business, we are told is separate from the exam side.
I give the hardware people negative 100 stars because the financial loss is even more when you spend $500+ for glasses that dont work. Terrible service. Glasses never fit right, the lens are incorrect and they absolutly wont fix the problem. Simply say the glasses are fine. We put the new glasses they made, that we cant see out of, in a drawer and went elsewhere.
We and our extended family now go to a different optometrist in town for eye exams and glasses.
