my home, and got a housekeeping job in Olympia, an hour away from my home. I have no housekeeping experience and I was clear about that. So I get to the place for my interview, and it’s a hospital. Let’s keep in mind my cleaning experience. A woman and a man come out (to keep things as professional as possible I will not be naming names), and take me back to the surgery ward where I would be cleaning. Again, keep in mind my cleaning experience and the job I originally applied for. So they show me the how to clean some things and then tell me I start the next day and another woman would be helping me. Well, the next day she shows me how to clean the rooms and the halls. So i get on it and I do my best. I finish for the day and head home, without anyone checking in after me. So I head home, it’s around 1 in the morning and I hear my phone ring. It’s texts from the second woman to both me and the first woman who was my boss. They’re videos of things that I missed, like the trash, and they’re speaking Russian to boot. I don’t speak Russian at all. So I was confused as to what I was supposed to do or say. And at this point, they had asked me to transfer to a different area for $1100 a month because the previous woman who had my job had came back and wanted it back. Let’s keep in mind that while she had the job, she had her children helping her. I had no one. Fast forward a week and pay still isn’t hashed out. At this point, I’m under the impression that I’m working for $18/hr when in reality it’s $1800 a month. Working from 5pm-2am. So we finally get the pay hashed out and the first woman shows me more videos they took after me. At this point I’m done with the videos and so I request that someone come in and help me look instead of sending the videos. This lasted for a week. They were still sending videos, just not to me this time. I would like to add in that after every video, I did my best to improve on what I was missing out on. After the trash video, I only missed the trash once, for example. So we finally get the pay hashed out and fast forward to pay day. I didn’t get my check. We didn’t set up direct deposit either. So I wait a day before I asked for it, and it was about 3 days before the first woman told me the man had mailed it off to me. Anyways, at this point, I was physically ill and could not work, so I requested that I go home. Which was the only reason I was told my check was mailed. We’re about a month in. And then the first woman starts showing me some dust bunnies that had built up over the course of the week, because it had been a little while since I had cleaned behind the machines. This was a very big deal to say the least. So I head home, head back to work the next day when I feel better. It’s the end of the night and the two women who were supposed to look after me are done looking after me, but without me. So this is definitely not the first time this has happened, so I hand them my badge, finish for the night, and leave. They tried to get me to stay for the rest of the week, the rest of the month, but I was at my wits end. My boss didn’t even say a word. All I can say now, is that don’t work here if you aren’t Russian, or don’t have like 20 years of cleaning experience. Because they will find something wrong with what you’re doing, and they will try to sabotage you.
