If you are seeking an intelligent, experienced, and compassionate therapist, one who takes your spirit into account in the work you do together, Dawn Dickson is the one. When my clients need psychotherapy, which goes beyond my scope of practice, I always send them to Dawn. She has the great capacity to hold, support and guide them through to health and healing. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Two things that are terribad: Dawn diagnoses EVERY ONE of her clients with a disorder. To her, there are no normal people or normal problems. You have a disorder. Over the phone, she couldn't tell me what she would diagnose me with, but she was certain could find a disorder in me (as a stranger) for the insurance companies. I don't like that, so I chose to pay cash to avoid an arbitrary diagnosis. Dawn then canceled my appointment because, get this, with respect to my insurance company, which has no idea that she and I have ever spoken "they don't like it when I charge full fee for one of their members." Insurance companies are not all-knowing. They are not human and do not have likes or dislikes. I can't imagine working with someone who does not understand that. I am human, and I do not like a lack of human compassion in others. Fortunately, there are those in the area who understand the growing need for privacy and that human people still matter more than corporate people.
