02/01/2015: The owners serious negative attitude and harassment have made me decide to not shop here again. 2 Mud Bay's are nearby, one up the street.

Worst costumer service I have ever received, anywhere! I walked in looking to switch my dogs food and the older short haired blonde woman was a complete you-know-what! She made judgey comments, treated me like I knew nothing about dogs, insulted me several times and was not the least bit helpful. I live one block away but I will go out of my way to another pet store to buy my dogs food just so I never had to deal with her again. I cannot believe they stay open with staff like that. Unbelievable!

WARNING!!! INSANITY!!! This isn't just bad customer service- this is abuse! ****every 1 star review has the same story**** I'd like to first point out that I've never posted a review of any business before today, but I've now taken to Yelp, Facebook, and now Google to make any poor pet owner aware of the insanity that ensued earlier today. The first time I visited this store, I noticed a quote on the back of the employee's shirt was "I don't really care". I'm generally a fan of jaded, angsty, punk-ish fashion of the sort, so I told her I liked it. She then told me it was actually her work shirt, and the slogan was chosen because the owner and employees agree that it's quite annoying to hear customers ramble on about how "special" their pet is... I suppose I should have taken this as a warning, but silly me, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt so I responded with a "huh, funny...". Anyway, I'd told my husband they had a pretty good selection of pet products so we should support their small business when we're around. After getting out of my yoga class next door to this store, I found my husband sitting in the car looking confused and rattled. He then have me this account of what had just happened: He came into the store looking for the food we normally get for our dog, and was told that they don't carry that brand. He then inquired as to what they would recommend for a dog with dental issues (as we've been doing frequently lately to get some diversified advice) and what they might know about how effective/necessary professional dental care is vs. home remedy treatment (dental bones, food choice, brushing, etc.) Somehow there was a miscommunication that led the woman to believe he was talking about a cat, and she started laughing at him like he was an absolute moron. As he tried to clear up the misunderstanding and navigate the conversation back to the subject matter of dental care for a DOG, he said the woman became very agitated, started yelling at him and telling him he was only there to loiter in her store and argue with her, and screamed at him to LEAVE RIGHT NOW. As he immediately turned toward the door to leave (as one will when confronted with absolute lunacy), he turned once more to say "I really have no idea why you're yelling at me...?" to which he was again met with more screams of GET OUT! LEAVE! Etc. while wildly CLAPPING HER HANDS as he exited. It should be noted that my husband is in the dog care industry, having worked in dog day cares and dog walking for years. He isn't an ill informed crazy person rambling out frustrating questions. (But even if he was... Wtf?) Since my husband was banished from the store, I decided to go in and find this person to give them a chance to apologize to us before I write this review and extend warnings about how people can expect to be treated at this establishment via social media, to which the employee told me it was the OWNER who had screamed at my husband, that she had commented after he left that she "felt kinda bad" and was "on her period". I asked when she'd be back in for us to come talk to her and the girl said she's only in and out, and did her best to indicate we wouldn't get that chance. After I explained that my husband is a very kind and well intentioned person and whatever the misunderstanding was, he was just looking for advice, to which she replied "oh, it's ok, you're good"- AS IF I WAS THE ONE APOLOGIZING!! She gave me a card with an email I could use for complaints, which I will definitely be using after writing this. Needless to say, we'll be sticking with Mud Bay and hoping to find another small business to support in the near future, but also- I just have to urge you- don't shop at this store or give them your support in any way. People who are this mean and unapologetic should be collectively ostracized from our society so that their power is stripped from them until they can learn to play nice with the other kids.

I don't know what all these people are on about. I went there looking for cuttlefish bone. They were out of stock but the lady gave me a couple broken pieces for free. She was actually quite friendly. I'll definitely be returning.
