Best company I've had the opportunity to work for!!! Quality work from skilled carpenters

We had the pleasure of working with Travis, Jason and crew from Woodcrafters on a kitchen/main floor remodel of our mid-century home. We talked with other companies, but ultimately chose Woodcrafters as there was an immediate level of comfort and communication style that put us at ease. I appreciated the time Travis spent up front really understanding what the project entailed, as well as the time spent educating us on common issues that tend to arise, and how we might address those.Once the project started, having the weekly meetings was really helpful and the ability to access their online project management tool allowed me to track progress, document decisions, view timelines and budget, etc.We were really happy with the quality of work. One of the main features of our project was replacing an outdated pony wall with a decorative, wood partition wall that fit the era of the  house. Based on a photo, they were able to design and construct a beautiful wall that has become a focal point. The crew was friendly, considerate (as we were living in the basement during remodel) and responsive. Overall, really happy with Woodcrafters and looking forward to using them when we tackle the basement!

Woodcrafters designed and built an incredible basement remodel for us. The space we had for them to work with was super small (20 ft by 16 ft). They did an amazing job converting this hard to use space into a bedroom, full bathroom, and laundry room. Everyone on their team had a wonderful enthusiasm and passion for our project and were patient and thorough every step along the way. With a 100+ year old house, of course, there were things that came up along the way that surprised us all. Woodcrafters fixed all of them making our house not only with more useable space, but much safer and durable. We had weekly meetings to review the budget and discuss details which meant no "surprise" costs or last-minute fixes were required. The space turned out great and they were so great to work with. Even our barky dog feel in love with them. Highly recommend!!!

We hired Woodcrafters to do a second story addition. I DO NOT recommend them. Our problems with them are around dishonesty and billing practices. There are many things we are disappointed with in our experience - too much to write here. Some examples include that they didn't adequately protect our home from weather, causing damage to our home, and then they tried to charge us for the results - extra tarps, the time it took the manage the failing tarps and the damage to our first floor from the water that poured in repeatedly. They bid our job more than $100,000 less to start, once we selected them, the project cost grew and grew. First the owner misquoted us with the wrong windows - add approx. $10,000.  Then the subcontractors bids came in higher, repeatedly. If we didn't agree to the cost increases then we had to change our design and forgo the look or product we had planned and submitted to them for our initial bid. The company makes 18% on top of the the total job cost - including the subcontractors work - so the incentive to find a lower price does not serve them, it takes away from their bottomline. They broke tile in our kitchen floor and replaced it with cheap and mismatched pieces and didn't tell us. They gave us an itemized bill listing work we didn't approve and work they did not do. They explained the contract to us at the start of the project, multiple times, but at the end of the job they denied saying what they said at the beginning of the project.  In the end they requested approximately $13,000 more than the contract amount (which was already $103,000 over our initial bid with them).  Of course, there are always two sides to every story, but I recommend you write your side of the story with another company. Incredible disappointment and regret sums up our experience with Woodcrafters.

We recently moved into a 1962 split level in Maple Leaf and the broker on the sale recommended Woodcrafters for the extensive renovations that were required before moving in. This turned out to be excellent advice, as Travis and Charles (the project manager) did a great job from start to finish. The work included demolition and replacement of an old deck, total rebuild of three bathrooms, moving walls, refinishing floors, and repairing rot and other existing issues that came to light in the course of the renovations.Travis was extremely conscientious and transparent with the bidding, budgeting, and communication surrounding the project. We routinely got updates on the work in progress and were notified of any potential variations up front. There were close to a dozen change orders and everything was done by the book, with review of costs and alternatives prior to any work being done.Charles brought a similar level of care to the job site. His work was great and the house was kept in very clean condition--with everything that could be damaged wrapped or covered--throughout the months-long job. There were a number of occasions where we would come by at 6:00 or 7:00 and Charles would still be at work. We've been in the house since Christmas and we're still noticing some of the nice detail he put into the trim. The last point to note is that Woodcrafters were very adaptable and able to easily resolve problems that arose in the course of the work. Of course there will be some unexpected issues in a big project and these guys were exceptionally flexible in working out good solutions. Between some clever plumbing and wiring reroutes and framing out some new walls, they were able to transform a downstairs office/workroom into a real guest bedroom. If that wasn't enough, they were cheerful and accommodating throughout the work. There's no question they'd be the first call when and if we need to do more work.
