Do not get balayage here!! I've been going to this salon for three years and was always relatively happy with my services. They recently brought on a new balayage colorist (she doesn't know how to do balayage, she does ombre), I had a horrible experience and will not go back. I showed her exactly what I wanted via photos, it was the exact same color I had from my previous colorist there. I said I like my balayage connected at the root. As she was coloring I could tell she wasn't doing this so I asked her to please at least connect the front pieces that line my face. She said she'd try (it ended up still an inch+ from the root). I left with ombre, there was a hard line at what should be two months of grow out (~2 inches from the root). I couldn't tell how bad it was until I got home because their lighting is so poor. I was then out of town for the following two weeks, was coming back for a haircut and was planning to tell Maddie then that I was super unhappy. One of the owners who was cutting my hair, just said he doesn't mess with color situations and he was staying out of it... that's not the appropriate move when you are the business owner. The irony is I was trying to do it the kind way - instead of calling to complain about her, I just planned to mention in person I didn't love it and ask her to throw in more color and connect it (as I very explicitly asked from the start and she ignored). Instead I was lectured for not calling within the two weeks timeframe and that they have to charge for my additional service to correct it. She then continued to lecture me about what balayage is and how it's supposed to look... I have been getting balayage for 10+ years and I have super easy hair, she is just inexperienced and her method is novice. She paints ombre, not balayage. I was then lectured by the receptionist, Meredith, she was so rude. I was in shock as I left the salon, that they valued a new colorist's ego more than a loyal client. The customer service was horrible and the situation was dealt with terribly. My hair was a complete waste of time and money (almost $300 with tip). I went to a new salon and the colorist was surprised at how bad it was, fortunately he was able to correct it. I would not recommend Essensuals based on ability or customer service.
