Homestreet is engaging in predatory and unsavory business practices. I have a zero balance (and has been at zero balance for years) line of equity open.Without any attempt to call me, they called my insurance company and told them I had just applied for a mortgage (an absolute and total lie...it was 2016 or so when that was opened not Oct 2021 and I have never applied for a mortgage with them and don't currently have a mortgage of any kind on the home). My insurance company (yay Allstate) did the right thing and contacted me before giving them any info. I instructed them not to provide any information and they provided wonderful customer service and did as I asked (again YAY Allstate).That was weeks ago. I've gone into the local branch, I've called multiple times and each time I get "we aren't the group that does that, let me put you in touch with them...oh sorry they must be closed for the day". They promise they've put a note instructing the "loan department" to call me (no call yet).They have now sent a letter saying they will purchase insurance that is more expensive than market rates and that provides less coverage (letter literally says this) to cover the mortgage. There is NO mortgage and the line of credit has a zero balance. I requested over the phone it be closed and at the branch, but NOOOOO they can't do it...they are only good at charging you, never at making their mistake right OR even treating a client with a modicum of respect and decency. Not only will I NEVER do business with HomeStreet again, I will be contacting the Washington State Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office.Absolutely terrible customer experience and feels very predatory.

Homestreet bank truly delivers on the neighborhood banking experience. They're friendly and helpful, all over the city and have convenient Saturday hours. Tech is a little behind but coming along.
