My husband and I have lived here for almost 2 years now. We chose this for the price, not being able to find anything else suitable in this area for the price. We have a 627 sqft one bedroom and pay $860 a month. The cons:The apartments them selves are older. They have older carpet and a rock/tile hallway floor. the cabinets are older styled wood, ceiling is popcorn and they have linoleum on the kitchen and bathroom floors. There is not a W&D inside, the walls are just a little thin. The floors creek/ move a little when you walk across them. The street noise is busy and can be loud. The Pros: This little place is so lovely and quiet and clean and safe that you really feel at home. There aren't any wild children running around. For the most part all the tenants are quiet and respectful. The grounds are covered with trees and plants everywhere they can be. The apartments are large and quiet. There are updated counter tops and toilet and dishwasher and oven. There is a very large balcony that spans the length of the apartment. There are new, double paned windows and sliding doors. the electricity is cheap. I don't pay water or anything like that. It is on a somewhat busy street, bu this street is lovely and in a really great area. Met Market is just down the street, Safeway is very close. We live practically on the Burke-Gil. UW is right across the way. Laurelhurst grows on you. I really want to live here forever!. There are parks everywhere! There aren't any clubs or loud crazy things around so the neighborhood is very laid back and quiet. My favorite parts, the parts that have kept me here despite the cons, are the trees and the managers. The managers are a couple from I think Russia (Eastern European), they are younger, and don't have kids. The guy, Serg ("surge") is genuinely one the nicest, most honest and caring people you will meet. He really cares about the grounds and about the comfort/ safety and happiness of the tenants. He is out every weekend cleaning and fixing up stuff. He is attentive and quick to fix whatever goes wrong. I really appreciate living in a place with such a great manager! If we could fix up the place add a couple bedrooms we wouldn't leave. But for the young couple, or single person looking for a quiet, safe, and affordable place to call home, this is it!
